Raid the Cage Season 2 Episode 8 Recap: Sibling Rivalry

On CBS’ game show ‘Raid the Cage,’ speed and strategy collide as the players compete to answer trivia and snatch as many high-end prizes as they can before the cage closes. In season 2, the cage is more tempting than ever since it glimmers with lavish jewelry, incredible tech gadgets, designer bags, and many more. Episode 8 commences with the co-host and cage master, Jeannie Mai, announcing the intense face-off between two pairs of siblings. The tennis-playing brothers, Tyler and Jeremy, from Chicago, Illinois, are going to be competing against the inseparable sisters, Nina and Ketevan, from California.

Both Teams Dive Headfirst Into the Action as the First Round Begins

The co-host, Damon Wayans Jr., arrives on the stage and welcomes the contestants to the show. He then jumps right into action by explaining the rules. The cage has multiple mystery boxes for the players to grab, one containing a Hermès Birkin bag. He announces that Nina and Ketevan have won the coin toss backstage, and they are going to be the first ones to play. While one of them will stay back on the stage to answer questions and get time for the cage, the other person is going to be the grabber who goes in the cage to get prizes. He informs them about their two categories, Flip it and Reverse it. For the first one, they have to answer things that one can flip, and for the second one, the answers are going to be words spelled the same forward and backward.

Nina decides to be the grabber while Ketevan stays back to answer questions. There are a total of eleven answers on the board, with Damon asking ten questions within 45 seconds. Each correct answer shall add three seconds to their partner’s time in the cage. Upon giving one wrong answer, the host is going to move on to the next question. The pair chooses the category of Flip it. After an intense trivia round, Ketevan succeeds in providing six correct answers, bringing the cage clock to 18 seconds. Damon explains that Nina has 18 seconds in the cage to grab as many prizes as possible. They can keep what they have grabbed if she makes it out before the cage door closes. However, no one in the studio is going to know the remaining time until the final 3-second warning goes off. If the door closes, the sisters are going to lose all the prizes.

As the cage is activated and the raid begins, the energy in the studio turns more electrifying than ever. Apart from branded bags, boots, and men’s golf clubs, she also manages to grab a mystery box. It is revealed that it contains a Leica instant camera. After the calculation, it turns out that the cost of their total raid is $4,895. It is now Tyler and Jeremy’s turn, and one of them has to answer questions on the remaining category of Reverse It. While the latter decides to be the grabber, the former is going to answer the questions. Within 45 seconds, Tyler answers seven questions correctly, adding 21 seconds to the clock. After an intense cage raid, Jeremy succeeds in getting a mystery box containing Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, apart from dresses, bags, and many more items.

The Second Round Commences With New Prizes and Tough Challenges

Before looking at the value of Tyler and Jeremy’s total grab, Damon reminds the players that only the team with the highest total prize value can move on to the grand finale. This can provide them with the opportunity to beat the cage and win the most valuable prizes of the night. In a grand reveal, they find out that Tyler has managed to grab items worth a total of $8,589, putting the brothers in the lead. Since they went second in the first round, they are going to compete first in the second round. Jeannie informs them that new prizes, like an Apple Vision Pro and an entire wheel of Parmesan Regiano, have been added to the cage for this round. Making it more interesting, the cage has a new challenge called Gimme Five. The grabber has to race and high-five all five hand-shaped targets to unlock a Louis Vuitton cross-body bag.

Additionally, the mystery boxes are still present in the cage. Since Jeremy was the grabber in the first round, Tyler has to take on the role this time. Damon reveals that their two choices of categories are Hokey Pokey and The Chicken Dance. For the first choice, Jeremy has to answer rhyming phrases; for the second, he has to name things that can have wings. The contestant decides to go with the first category. Damon further informs him that this time, for every correct answer, five seconds are going to be added to Tyler’s cage time. Within the allotted time, Jeremy answers nine questions correctly, adding 45 seconds to the cage clock. After reminding the grabber about the rules, Damon finally asks for the cage to be activated.

During the cage raid, Tyler completes the Gimme Five Challenge and grabs multiple amazing prizes. Besides Apple AirPods, Apple Watch Ultra, and many others, he has managed to win the Louis Vuitton cross-body bag. The total value of their items for the second round is $17,247, totaling up to $25,836. Since it is now Nina and Ketevan’s turn, the former is going to be answering the questions. As the round begins with The Chicken Dance as the category, she successfully answers eight questions correctly. With 40 seconds on the clock, Ketevan jumps right into action as the cage raid begins. Aside from multiple camping gears, she grabs a mystery box containing a Dyson Hair Straightener. The total value of the grab is $5,608, bringing their total prize worth $10,503 in two rounds.

As One Team Soars With a Win, the Other Stumbles at the Finish Line

As the contestants enter the third round, Damon announces that Tyler and Jeremy are in the lead with the highest prize value. The host once again reminds them of what is at stake to reach the grand finale. Since the brothers are in the lead, they are going to compete first. Once again, Jeannie informs them that this round has a safari jacket as the new prize, besides the mystery boxes and two new challenges. In the challenge Hang Ten, the grabber has to get on the surfboard to move a ball by topping left and right through the maze to unlock a token for a flightboard pro. For the second challenge, Scarf Out, the grabber has to pull a long string of scarves to pull a rabbit out of the hat. It will unlock a token for a trip to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Damon then announces the categories of Bee’s Knees and Double D’s for the round.

While for Bee’s Knees, the answers are things one may do on their knees, Double D’s answers are going to be words with double Ds. Once again, Tyler decides to be the grabber.  Each correct answer shall give them 7 seconds on the cage clock this time. As the 45 seconds come to an end, Jeremy provides nine correct answers, bringing the cage raid time to 63 seconds. Tyler completes the Scarf Out challenge as the cage is activated for the raid and grabs five items. He also manages not to let go of the mystery box containing a Dolce & Gabbana dress. For completing the Scarf Out challenge, they won a trip to Caesars Palace worth $15,000. The total worth of the cage raid adds up to $20,715, with the total of the three rounds being $46,551.

As the sisters arrive on the stage, Damon informs them about the big gap between their prize value and their competitors. However, he reminds them that the game can change at any moment, paving the path to the grand finale. Nina is going to be the grabber for the third round, while Ketevan will be answering trivia in the category of Double D’s. The latter answers seven questions correctly, providing her sister with 49 seconds in the cage. Although Nina is off to a great start, she ultimately fails to save the day. She rushes towards the gate with the final 3 seconds warning. However, the door closes, making her lose all the prizes she collected in this round. To her further dismay, Jeannie reveals that the mystery box that she had collected contained the most desired Hermès Birkin bag. As Nina becomes emotional, Damon ends up consoling her.

With the Cage Offering Its Toughest Challenges, the Winners Face One Final Test

Damon calls Tyler and Jeremy back on the stage, announcing them as the night’s winners. He further informs that no matter what, they are going to be taking $46,551 worth of prizes back home. This time, they can win amazing prizes like a Jeep Wrangler by playing the bonus round. Damon then asks the brother if it is their dream car, and Tyler reveals that it is indeed his dream. Jeannie takes the turn to announce that this round is going to have bigger challenges and prizes. For the final raid, in the challenge, Drop It Like It’s Hot, the grabber has to run up the stairs, grab a ball, and attempt to drop it in the rotating bucket. If they succeed in putting in three balls, they can unlock a 14-karat diamond.

In the challenge, Splish Splash, the grabber has to find three rubber ducks from a pile of bubbles and line them up to win a trip to Peppers Seminyak in Bali. For the next challenge, Running in Circles, the grabber has to hop onto a massive tire and begin running. Once they manage to complete ten rotations, they have to grab the cage’s released car keys and push the new whip out of the cage to win the Jeep Wrangler. This time, Tyler and Jeremy are going to get 90 seconds for the cage raid. Furthermore, the brothers can take turns to grab prizes worth at least $50,000 as a team. If they succeed, they can beat the cage and take home everything they have grabbed. For this round, Jeremy and Tyler are going to get a warning of five seconds before the clock runs out.

As the cage gets activated and the raid commences, Tyler enters the arena first and completes the Running in Circles challenge. After he finishes his grab, Jeremy rushes in and completes the Splish Splash challenge before getting out of the cage. Alongside a Louis Vuitton teddy bear, a Sony DSLR camera, and many more items, they have successfully grabbed the Jeep Wrangler and a trip to Peppers Seminyak in Bali. However, it all comes down to the total worth of their prizes. As they look at the screen with great anticipation, Jeremy excitedly declares that they have beaten the cage. Lo and behold, they have truly succeeded in doing so with the prize worth $72,979, bringing their night’s total to $ 119,530. While the winners immerse themselves in the celebration, the audience is already eager to see what the next episode has in store.
