The second season of Netflix’s ‘Rana Naidu’ ends on a bittersweet note, with Rana back in the game, navigating through the world and mania of the rich while struggling to keep his family safe and happy. Eager to make it big and then quit the job, he decides to take a daring course of action. As his family gathers together for a moment of great happiness, they find themselves at the center of Rana’s clash with the enemy. With growing numbers, they begin sprouting from every corner, drawing close, leaving the fixer with no choice but to face the consequences of his actions. The season ends on an exciting note, strongly indicating a continuation of the story of father and son. As such, the third season of this electric crime drama can be expected to premiere sometime in 2027. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Rana Naidu Season 3 Will Likely be About Rana’s Prison Escape
At the end of season 2, Naga declares that he will bust through the prison bars and break his son free, emphasizing that his way of dealing with things drastically differs from Rana’s. Therefore, this plot thread is most likely to be at the center of the next season, with the former prisoner using all his wit and wildness to protect his son. Naga’s promise also holds a deeper meaning; having just lost his eldest child, he can’t bear to lose another. However, his devious schemes have a history of bringing more chaos than resolution, as displayed in the plan to steal money from the Oberoi safe, which devolves into a mission to steal the box itself, resulting in a guard’s death and Tej’s imprisonment. Furthermore, Rana’s history of enmity with his father means that he would be less than pleased with this venture, making for a wildly unpredictable prison break in the third season.
A larger plotline taking shape in the background is that of Auntie’s rise to power. Managing her ex-husband Surya’s criminal operations after his death, she is at constant odds with Rauf for the entirety of this season. To put an end to Don’s reign of terror, she sends Naga, who already owes her a sum of 3 crore rupees that he cannot repay. When Rauf eventually dies, Naga believes that his debt is paid, but Auntie reminds him that he has merely earned his life back, and their dynamic is far from over. With the entirety of Koliwada in her grip, Auntie stands more powerful than ever and can potentially become an antagonistic force in the third season on par with Rauf. This also makes the perfect grounds for reconciliation within the family, with everyone joining hands to save Naga from his troubles.
Season 3 Can Focus on the Growth and Reconciliation of the Naidu Family
The last chapter of ‘Rana Naidu’ ends on an ambiguous note about both Rana and Jaffa, his brother. No further news regarding the life of Tasmeen’s child opens up the third season for two possibilities. In the first, Jaffa, now a studio owner, becomes a more responsible character with a wife and child around him. The other arc might follow the effects of losing the child, giving way to more suffering and perhaps creating a grudge between the brothers. Moreover, Naina’s affair with Naveen is yet to be revealed to her children, and Nitya hasn’t had the time to process her trauma from witnessing a murder twice now, with Tej’s sacrifice for her adding to Rehaan’s death. These tensions, coupled with the uncertainty of what sort of experience Rana undergoes in prison, can drastically affect the structure of his family.
OB Mahajan’s murder and Naga’s strong display of conviction to bring Rana back from prison show an interesting development in the series’ tangent of father figures. Naga has repeatedly fallen short in his attempts to redeem himself in his son’s eyes. If the failed father does fulfill his promise and continues to stand beside his sons, giving up on his selfish and greedy motives, this new season might finally bring closure to the long-damaged relationship. Further, Naga’s recurring entanglement with his Rana’s business, which has till now only brought hurdles for his son, if resolved, has the potential to free the protagonist from this line of crime forever, for he began this work in the absence of a responsible father and a return of whom might bring the series full circle.
A Major Cast Member Will Likely Be Omitted For Season 3 Of Rana Naidu
While the third season of ‘Rana Naidu’ is likely to retain most of its cast for the Naidu family, with Rana Daggubati, Venkatesh Daggubati, Surveen Chawla, Abhishek Banerjee and Afrah Sayed as Rana, Naga, Naina, Jaffa and Nitya Naidu respectively, it will likely see the departure of Sushant Singh as the gentle Tej Naidu. This comes following the character’s death in the final episode. Arjun Rampal’s character Rauf Mirza, the protagonist’s fearsome foe, is also to give way to a new central antagonist. While there is no information on the show’s new villain, Heeba Shah’s character, Auntie, is likely to rise to prominence, making her a potential candidate. Aditi Shetty, who plays Tasneem, may likely play a more integral role as her character becomes a Naidu, planning to raise a child with Jaffa.
This season also marks the end of Rajesh Jaiz’s character, OB Mahajan, the politician who is a father figure to Rana in the first season and a secret enemy in the next. Bodhisattva Sharma is also unlikely to reprise his role as Nitya’s love interest and rapper, Rehaan, following his character’s death at the hands of Rauf. Audiences are eager for the return of Kriti Kharbanda as Alia Oberoi, who ends the season as the future CEO of Oberoi Enterprises with her father out of the picture. She reminds Rana of the favor he owes her, suggesting that their story is far from over. Adithya Menon and Lauren Robinson will likely return as the fixer’s trusted employees, Srini and Lara. Additionally, Dino Morea’s character, Police Officer Naveen, has the potential for a wild card comeback, eager for revenge, adding to Rana’s ever-growing list of enemies.
