The third season of Prime Video’s ‘Reacher’ packs much action and intrigue, and several plot elements play an important role in setting it up. The first three episodes introduce us to the new conflict, which sucks Reacher into itself, leading him to make some cold-blooded decisions. Most of this conflict connects to a company named Bizarre Bazaar, whose owner, Zachary Beck, is the target of the investigation. On the surface, it is a rug company, but there is more to it than that. At the same time, we also follow the story of Zachary’s son, Richard, who is a student at Havenhurst University. Because the arcs of both the characters are significant to the story, these places connected to them also become important. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Bizarre Bazaar and Havenhurst University are Fictional Elements in Reacher
Because Jack Reacher is a drifter, he lands in a new location every season, which is what keeps things fresh and exciting each time. In this season, he ends up in a town called Abbotsville in Maine. The opening scene features him in a university town full of college students, all of whom go to Havenhurst University. This is also where he crosses paths with Richard Beck, who then introduces him to his father, Zachary, who is the owner of a rug company called Bizarre Bazaar. Both of these things are entirely fictional creations intended to further the plot.
There is a real business called Bizarre Bazaar, but this website is dedicated to the business of clothes. It is targeted as “an immersive fashion installation and retail experience” and showcases a collection of independent designers from around the world. Interested people can find a variety of stuff there, but those looking to buy a rug will most likely be disappointed. The business that Zachary Beck owns in ‘Reacher’ was made up by author Lee Child for his sixth novel, Persuader, in the Jack Reacher series.
In the same vein, Richard’s Havenhurst University is also a fictional plot device created to bring Reacher into the boy’s orbit. The location becomes crucial, particularly in the first three episodes, where Richard meets and, apparently, saves Richard from being kidnapped. One might be familiar with the name if they are a fan of the 1900s show, ‘Class of ’96,’ which has Havenhurst College as its main setting. In real life, which is supposed to be somewhere in Maine, it was re-created on set in locations around Canada. Ontario and Newfoundland were used to film the third season, and most of the locations were interior sets used to film different parts of the story. Havenhurst and its surroundings were also filmed there.
