Renata Nunes: Where is the Bull Rider Today?

While there’s no denying that the Western Country way has been gaining a lot of traction over the past few years, there is one area within it that has still not been explored as much. However, Freeform/Hulu’s ‘Not Her First Rodeo’ does cover this cowgirl-centric gap at least a little by delving deep into the fast-paced world of professional bull riding for women. Amongst those to thus feature in this original production, which follows five pros as they navigate life both in and out of the arena, is none other than a Legacy named Renata Nunes.

Renata Nunes Has Been Around Rodeos and Riders Her Entire Life

Although Renata Nunes was born on January 10, 2005, in Zacarias, Brazil, to Andreia and Renato Nunes, she actually spent her formative years on a ranch in wondrous Boyd, Texas. That’s because her father had moved the whole family here when she was just a few months old to pursue his dream of being successful on the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) circuit. He even managed to do so through sheer hard work, resulting in him being able to compete in hundreds of rodeos a year and winning millions in total before ultimately retiring in 2015.

The Nunes family subsequently decided to return to their homeland, where they happily settled down before reportedly establishing a beautiful, sprawling ranch catering to bucking bulls. Therefore, by the time Renata was a teenager, she had realized she not only had an innate passion for animals and riding like her loving father, but she also wanted to follow in his footsteps. Hence, she spent the next few years training and competing locally to hone her skills, all the while taking her prior observations of her father’s and his competitors’ styles into account.

Little did anybody know that Renata would become a master of her craft in her own right by the time 2024 rolled around, resulting in her making her way to the US to follow her dreams. Unfortunately, she didn’t have the greatest start to the season and actually got into such a bad headspace for a while that she even returned to Brazil for some comfort, hoping to see if the US really was the right choice for her. That’s when she realized that the weight on her shoulders was her own comparison to her father and her fears, because while others did always note that she is a legacy, when she got the bull, she was performing by and for herself.

Renata Nunes Continues to Chase Her Dreams With Immense Passion Today

While it’s true that Renata prefers to lead a rather private life, she never shies away from expressing her passion for the Western way, her love for her father, as well as her dreams for her future. The 20-year-old currently resides in Marietta, Oklahoma, where she spends most of her time training or working at a local ranch by the name of South Lake Ranch as an animal carer. Whenever she is not practicing, working, or competing in rodeos, the youngster prefers to take complete advantage of her opportunities and simply travel to experience different people and cultures.

Whether it be California, New York, Colorado, or Texas, this cowgirl has been everywhere in the past few months, and she hopes to expand this list by a lot as time passes by. Moreover, and more importantly, though, her biggest hope is to win a championship buckle one day soon and prove to every single person that she is much, much more than Renato Nunes’ daughter. She is extremely proud of her background and family, but she wants to make them, especially her father, proud by making her own name by herself. She is hard on herself, but she understands that she has to be better about it because she wants to inspire other young girls to also come forward and embrace the cowgirl ways. Her journey in this industry is only just beginning, and we can’t wait to see what’s in the cards for her next.
