‘The Voice 27’ introduced many musical talents to the world, each determined to take home the grand prize and secure a record deal with Universal Music Group. One such personality who emerged as a standout contestant of the 27th season is Dennis Lorenzo, also known as RENZO. After mesmerizing the judges and coaches by performing an acoustic version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” in the blind auditions, he ultimately decided to band together with Team Legend. With each round, RENZO continued showcasing his incredible skills, ultimately paving his way to the finals and offering a testament to his insane vocals through his version of Lenny Kravitz’s “Fly Away.” Throughout his journey on the show, he has earned a solid fan base by charming the audience with his talent and personality.
RENZO Efficiently Balances His Career as a Musician and Science Professor
‘The Voice 27’ isn’t RENZO’s first stint with reality television. Before he adopted his stage name, the singer tried his luck in the sixteenth season of ‘American Idol’ as Dennis Lorenzo. Some of his finest performances on the music reality competition included his rendition of “Thinking Out Loud,” “Home,’ ‘A Song for You,” “In My Blood,” as well as “Unaware” with Allen Stone. While he managed to advance from one round to another and earned his place in the Top 10, he was eliminated following a powerful performance of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” Nevertheless, that didn’t deter his spirit, and he promised to stay strong in his pursuit of hitting it big in the global music scene. Well, his hard work bore fruit when he cracked the auditions for ‘The Voice.’
RENZO’s musical talent is not limited to singing; he is also a producer and songwriter. Over the years, he has collaborated with some popular names in the industry, such as The Game and Teddy Riley. He has also produced several indie artists. Inspired by the music of international artists such as Childish Gambino, Jay-Z, Katy Perry, and Kendrick Lamar, the energetic singer also releases original music on streaming platforms. In 2024, he released six singles as well as a five-track EP, ‘Renzo Vol. I: Another Part of Me.’ The songwriter wowed his fans in March 2025 by dropping a full-fledged album titled ‘Renzo Vol. II: Get My Family Out’ featuring 11 songs that prove his mettle as an authentic voice in the field.
Having said that, RENZO is yet to pursue music as a full-time profession. As of writing, the multifaceted personality works as a science professor at an elementary school. He reportedly faced some hurdles as a teen and graduated with assistance from a credit recovery program offered by the Roosevelt Campus of the Norristown Area High School. While he still indulges in his musical pursuits only when he is not imparting science lessons to young students, RENZO has great plans for his future as a musician. He is deeply connected to his R&B soul roots and often blends them with alt-rock. In an interview in early 2025, he revealed his plans to experiment further in his upcoming album, which might include songs bearing his signature R&B style, high-energy rock, a ballad as well as “Fly Away.”
A Gift From His Grandparents Sparked RENZO’s Love for Music
Dennis Lorenzo originally hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and holds his family the closest to his heart. Unfortunately, he was forced to deal with loss at a very young age, having lost his father to gun violence when he was just five. Talking about how it had a profound impact on his life, RENZO said: “That was really tough on me growing up. There weren’t really many people for me to like look up to and say, ‘Hey, I want to be like this guy.'” However, he is very grateful for the fact that he had his loving mother, Roz King, by his side throughout it all. Besides his mother, the singer was also showered with love and care by his grandmother, Beatrice King, with whom he shared a close bond. In fact, while choosing his stage name, RENZO, he was heavily influenced by a character from a soap opera he enjoyed watching with his grandmother as a child.
Growing up in West Philadelphia, he faced several hurdles. Highlighting that, he said, “I definitely started going down the wrong path, standing on the corner, dealing with people I’m not supposed to be dealing with.” Despite the setbacks, he was always surrounded by people who loved and supported him for who he is. “My mom used to be a singer and after my dad passed, she gave that up for my sister and I. There wasn’t much she could do,” he told Metro Philadelphia. He never wanted to be a singer growing up. “I wanted to be everything but a singer. I wanted to be a wrestler like Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), I wanted to be a scientist,” he added. When the then-16-year-old teen received a guitar as a gift from his grandparents, he realized his true calling and pulled out all the stops to fulfill it.
Tragically, RENZO lost his grandmother on May 1, 2024. On Mother’s Day 2024, RENZO paid tribute to both the women who shaped his life. Talking about his Grandma, he expressed that “the sweetest woman of all time, unanimously” deserves a happy Mother’s Day every single year until I’m gone!” On the other hand, he referred to his mother as “the rock, the glue, the tape and everything else that holds a family” as well as “the greatest one there is.” Having been practically raised by the strongest women he knows, RENZO values the unwavering dedication, compassion, and resilience they instilled in him.
RENZO is a Devoted Husband and a Proud Girl Dad
A resident of Los Angeles, California, RENZO didn’t have it easy as an adult. At a young age, he moved to Atlanta from Philadelphia in search of opportunities in the world of music. Initially, he had to crash on his friend’s couches and even slept on studio floors, but things didn’t work out. Thus, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, with big dreams and not enough money. While trying out his luck in the City of Angels, RENZO even had to face homelessness and live in a tent. It was only when he bagged the chance to work as a line cook for the Greek restaurant, Rodini Park, that things began to look up for him. One thing led to another, and today, the 34-year-old has built a beautiful life for himself and his family.
RENZO is a proud father of three daughters. While he reportedly shares his firstborn with a woman he was dating around the time he was prepping for ‘American Idol,’ he welcomed his other two kids — Aliyah and Nyla Venus Parker — with Clotilde Delavennat. A graduate of the drama school Cours Florent in Paris, the French native is a French actress, producer, and dialect coach who became an American citizen in June 2024. The two met in Los Angeles and dated for several years before tying the knot in March 2018 in the presence of their loved ones and their eldest daughter, Aliyah, who was born in November 2016. The pair has been together for over a decade, and in all these years, their love has only grown and their bond strengthened.
Having faced many ups and downs in life in each other’s company, RENZO and Clotilde continue to cherish one another and are never shy to express their love and affection on social media. In a Father’s Day post in 2023, she wished RENZO with a heartwarming caption that read, in part, “…one thing is for sure in this world, you are a Hero to your daughters and they Absolutely Adore you just as much as you Adore them!!” Well, the father of three stated how proud he is of being a girl dad. “If there’s one thing that never fails to put a smile on my face, even when my mind doesn’t want to, It’s my family. With you, I cry more tears of laughter than ever of sorrow. Often times the best of me seems like a distant dream, but you all are the reminder I was blessed with that I shouldn’t travel so far sometimes, that I should stay right here with you…”
