Lindsey Shaw and David Deluise to Star in D. J. Hale’s ‘Rescued’

Lindsey Shaw and David DeLuise will star in D. J. Hale’s feature directorial debut! Moviedelic has learned that the two performers have joined the cast of ‘Rescued.’ The project’s principal photography will start on August 28 in Los Angeles, California. Shaw and Deluise will star alongside Jadon Cole, Jillian Tremaine, Gianna Gomez, Elissa Kapneck, Meagan McKenna, and Jake Ferree. Hale also wrote the screenplay.

The plot centers on a homeless man named Tyler (Hale) and his heartwarming and unlikely friendship with a stray dog, Angel. Living on the streets, rummaging through garbage, and using public facilities to survive, Tyler is in his darkest hour. His sorrowful spirit is uplifted by the appearance of a stray dog in his life, providing pivotal support in the form of hope, companionship, and unconditional love. However, when his best friend’s life is in danger, he tries to save him, willing to do anything it takes.

Shaw will play Scarlett in ‘Rescued.’ She started her acting career with recurring roles in ‘Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide’ as Jennifer Ann Mosely, The CW’s ‘Aliens in America’ as Claire Tolchuck, and ABC Family’s ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ as Kat Stratford. The actress was a long-time cast member of Freeform’s mystery teen drama ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ in which she played Paige McCullers. Shaw recently appeared in productions such as ‘As Certain as Death,’ ‘Lucifer,’ and ‘Reboot Camp.’

Son of beloved comic Dom DeLuise, David DeLuise is an actor and director who will portray Kirby in ‘Rescued.’ He is perhaps best known for playing Jerry Russo in Disney Channel’s ‘Wizards of Waverly Place.’ He has recently appeared in projects such as Netflix’s ‘That ’90s Show,’ ‘Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction,’ Max’s ‘Gray Matter,’ and ‘Velvet Prozak.’

The project is very close to Hale’s heart, and it was developed as an Indiegogo campaign. “It’s been 7 years since I decided to try my luck at writing, producing, directing, and starring in my own content,” wrote the filmmaker while working on the film. “No film school, no mentors, just a belief I could do it. Took a massive amount of L’s, and lost a massive amount of money. But the lessons and experience I’ve gained these past 7 years have been invaluable to my growth as an artist. If I had to do it again, I would gladly suffer the slings and arrows once more,” he added.

While filming in Los Angeles, ‘Rescued’ will explore two prevalent social issues the city deals with on a daily basis, grounding the narrative. Other films shot in the city include ‘Tangerine,’ ‘Dope,’ ‘Chef,’ and ‘Inherent Vice.’
