Robert Cosby: Where is Mary Cosby’s Husband Now?

TLC’s ‘The Cult Of The Real Housewife’ is a three-part documentary series that explores the alleged financial controversies surrounding Mary Cosby, the First Lady of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church in Salt Lake City, Utah, and a reality TV star of ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.’ What caused more unrest in the community was her marriage to her step-grandfather, Robert Cosby, who had previously been married to Rosemary “Mama” Cosby, the founder of the church. Besides exploring the allegations against Mary, the docuseries also focuses on Robert and his alleged involvement.

Robert Cosby Married His Step-Granddaughter After His Wife’s Death

Robert C. Cosby was the second husband of Dr. Rosemary “Mama” Redmon Cosby, the founder of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church in Salt Lake City, Utah, and thus became the Bishop of the church. After Mama’s death, Robert got married to his step-granddaughter, Mary, on September 28, 1998, at the Ritz-Carlton in Chicago, Illinois, causing quite a stir in the community. According to Mary, her marriage to Robert was arranged, as it was her grandmother’s wish. When Mary featured in the debut season of ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,’ Robert also made an appearance and explained, “She said, ‘If anything ever happens to me, Bobby, I want you to marry one of my girls because they’ll look out for you.'” By 2005, Robert and Mary entered parenthood by welcoming their son, Robert Cosby Jr., into the world.

Appreciating his wife, he praised Mary for being “more than a first lady” at the church and also admitted that he loved her in the February 2021 episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.’ He added, “I understand we’ve had our ups and downs. Hey, you’ve been married 22 years, how in the world can you not get along?” During a conversation with People in September 2024, Mary described him as a hard worker who respects and adores her. She stated, “He finds pleasure in buying me gifts, and he buys me the most beautiful things.” When there were allegations of Mary running a cult through the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, he didn’t comment while she denied them right away. However, he expressed his discontent at the season 1 reunion of the show, declaring he didn’t “like people messing with my wife at all.”

Robert Cosby Leads a Private Life With His Wife and Son in Salt Lake City

Robert Cosby continues to lead a fulfilling life with his wife, Mary, and their son, Robert Jr., in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he serves as the Bishop of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church. Since his former wife, Mama, left several properties in Mary Cosby’s name, Robert fulfills the responsibility of maintaining the homes, churches, daycares, restaurants, and a mortgage company. Mary has claimed that due to the allegations against her, he has been holding a grudge against ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ and avoiding appearing on the show. Robert also didn’t make an appearance on an October 2024 episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.’ Mary clarified that he wasn’t upset with Andy and reportedly told him that Robert didn’t trust the rest of the production.

“He’s good. He’s a man, and they hold grudges. But once he gets over his grudge-holding, he’ll be better,” she explained. Alongside Mary, Robert was also accused of financial misconduct by the former congregants of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church. One of the ex-members, Rosalind Enoch, claimed that Robert used to “instruct ushers to stand at the doors” and barricade people inside. She added, “During this meeting, everyone put their name and their amount on the list. If you didn’t have a certain amount, Robert would say, ‘That’s all you have?’ I mean, there’s nothing spiritual about that, right?” As of writing, Robert has not made a public statement about it. Amidst all these allegations, Robert prefers to stay out of the limelight and focus on his personal and professional life.
