After organizing and participating in a private nine-day search, Heather ultimately found her sister’s remains inside a locked metal box hidden on a wooded property previously owned by Katlyn’s husband, leading authorities to arrest him on homicide-related charges.
The movie does lean into several thrilling and slightly fantastical elements that heighten tension and keep the narrative gripping. Grief, guilt, unresolved family dynamics, and the need for answers are what truly connect the audience to the characters. While the film is not derived from any specific true story, the way it unfolds feels entirely plausible.
