Created by Rensil D’Silva and Siddharth P. Malhotra, Netflix’s ‘Shaque: Trust No One’ follows Anvita, a mother who refuses to give up on finding her daughter Apeksha, who is abducted shortly after her birth in Shimla. Almost 9 years later, the unresolved disappearance continues to consume Anvita, leaving her under immense emotional and mental strain. Her husband, Alok, and mother-in-law, Madhu, grow increasingly concerned about her relentless search, especially as Anvita begins questioning the people closest to her. Her younger daughter Siddhi, born after Apeksha’s disappearance, also becomes part of a family struggling to cope with the past.
With little support from those around her, Anvita turns to Inspector Khurana, a local police officer determined to uncover what happened to Apeksha. As Anvita pursues one suspect after another, her search takes her through a series of unsettling twists and revelations. The deeper she digs, the harder it becomes to distinguish what is real from what may be shaped by her grief, but she remains determined to uncover the truth at any cost. The Indian crime thriller series is a Hindi-language show that explores sensitive social themes and centers on a mother’s emotional experience.
Shaque: Trust No One is a Fictional Child Abduction Drama That Explores Grief and Obsession
‘Shaque: Trust No One’ is a fictional story that is brought alive by the teleplay from Rensil D’Silva, Abbas Dalal, Hussain Dalal, Riva Razdan Kapoor, Siddharth P. Malhotra, and Kausar Munir. It focuses on how Anvita and her family cope with Apeksha’s sudden disappearance, turning the issue into a catalyst for deeper revelations about the family. Anvita’s family embodies dysfunction, mistrust, and secrecy, which lead to chaos and uncertainty throughout the story. The idea of grief is explored from both masculine and feminine perspectives through the character arcs of Anvita and Alok.

The two of them react very differently to Apeksha’s kidnapping, which also becomes a major point of conflict between them. While Anvita remains steadfast in her resolve to find her missing daughter, even after close to 9 years, Alok hopes to move on and lead a different life. The narrative portrays motherhood as a special bond, something that doesn’t allow an individual to let go of grief easily. The show is also a broader commentary on how a single issue can sometimes divide a family and expose the cracks within it. Madhu and Alok fail to understand Anvita’s views on sensitive matters, which forces Anvita to fight most of her battles alone.
In terms of its cinematic language, ‘Shaque: Trust No One’ has much in common with shows like creator Robert Hull’s ‘I Will Find You,’ ‘All Her Fault,’ from the creative mind of Megan Gallagher, and ‘Safe,’ created by Harlan Coben. These shows also delve into the experiences of parents who desperately try to find their missing children and also shed light on the ways in which the disappearances affect them emotionally. The driving force behind ‘Shaque: Trust No One’ is how it constructs a flawed family and the forces controlling it, making the story more grounded and authentic.
Anvita is a Dramatized Figure On a Relentless Quest to Find Apeksha
Anvita is the beating heart of ‘Shaque: Trust No One,’ and central to the main mystery that the show deals with. Right after noticing that her baby girl has been kidnapped, Anvita gets into battle mode, looking for even the smallest clues to determine Apeksha’s whereabouts. One of the most important parts of Anvita’s character arc is her refusal to give up, no matter the magnitude of the threat. Anvita is depicted as a strong, independent person, capable of making her own decisions and resolving crises. Although grief and motherly love drive her, they do not limit her. Anvita’s emotional state is comparable to that of Joyce Byers in ‘Stranger Things,’ who goes through immense tribulations after Will Byers goes missing.

One of Anvita’s major battles is to convince others that her suspicions are valid and that she is not purely impulsive. Through her character, the show sheds light on how society sometimes refuses to trust women and considers their perspectives as emotional reactions. Despite most of her family and friends being against her, Anvita finds incredible courage within to carry on with her search for Apeksha. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Parineeti Chopra, who essays Anvita, spoke about her approach to the character and said, “I relied a lot on the writing and the real mothers around me on set to find the emotion.” The actress added, “During this journey of being a mother in India, there’s so many taboos around this subject, so it was so important to explore this angle.”
What makes Anvita a unique and grounded character is her ability to recognize her own strengths and weaknesses. She understands that grief is making her life difficult, but she also comes to terms with the fact that she can never give up on her fight to find her daughter. Despite being a fictional character, Anvita’s emotions make her feel real to viewers. Ultimately, ‘Shaque: Trust No One’ is a socially relevant show with a meaningful main character, Anvita, which makes it effective as a commentary on the mother-child bond.
