Shia LaBeouf and Uma Thurman will be heading to the Lone Star State for the upcoming movie together, titled ‘American Trip.’ Filming of the feature will take place between October 19 and November 20 this year in El Paso and Marfa, Texas. Zach Verdin wrote the script and will also direct. The cast also includes Don Johnson. The plot follows Duke Landry, an American man caught between who he was and who he will be, who unknowingly sets out to remember himself before he makes a mess.
Shia LaBeouf’s latest acting credits include Vince, a criminal, in the boxing drama ‘Salvable,’ and Gene, a man doing time in prison, in David Mamet’s prison drama ‘Henry Johnson.’ He also featured in Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Megalopolis’ in 2024. The ‘Transformers’ star will next be seen in Josh Penn Soskin’s road trip movie ‘The Rooster Prince,’ co-starring Jackson White and Melissa Leo. The story follows a renowned Harvard psychiatrist, arrested after a manic break, who is driven by his estranged younger brother across the country in a wild bipolar odyssey that might heal or destroy their relationship.
Veteran actress Uma Thurman recently played gangster Devora Kasimer in the Prime Video movie ‘Pretty Lethal,’ former special operations operator turned head of security Charley Brown in Showtime’s ‘Dexter: Resurrection,’ and the immortal Discord in Netflix’s ‘The Old Guard 2.’ In her upcoming slate are Season 2 of ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ and Jamie Babbit’s rom-com movie ‘Red, White & Royal Wedding,’ both for Prime Video. The story will follow Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry as they navigate their relationship while Princess Beatrice’s wedding approaches.
Don Johnson, known for his performance as James “Sonny” Crockett in the crime drama series ‘Miami Vice,’ was last seen as Captain Robert Massey in the medical drama series ‘Doctor Odyssey,’ Doc Holliday in HBO Max’s ‘Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: an Almost History of America,’ and police chief Sandy Burnne in the Netflix crime movie ‘Rebel Ridge,’ co-starring Aaron Pierre.
Zach Verdin will make his directorial debut with ‘American Trip.’ Through his company, Parable Media, he executive-produced Brady Corbet’s ‘The Brutalist,’ which won three Academy Awards, among other accolades.
