The Dating App Killer: Is Skye Based on a Real Person? What Happened to Her?

Lifetime’s ‘The Dating App Killer: The Monica White Story’ centers on the period Monica White spends with Anthony Robinson, who is later arrested on charges of being a serial killer. In one of their conversations, Robinson tells White that he had once been engaged, but that his fiancée had died. Unaware of the danger he posed, White offers her condolences, not fully grasping what he might be capable of. In reality, White has also stated that Robinson spoke to her about a fiancée named Skye Allen. Allen was found unresponsive in her room in February 2018 in Prince George’s County, Virginia. Following Robinson’s arrest, public interest in Skye’s case has only grown further.

Skye Allen Was Engaged to Anthony Robinson in Real Life

In the film, Skye Allen comes up during a conversation between Anthony Robinson and Monica White. He shares that he had once been engaged and that his former fiancée died before they could get married. Unaware of Robinson’s true nature, White responds with sympathy and tells him she understands that he has endured a difficult life. In reality, Monica White has alleged that she met the real Robinson in late 2020, and the two dated briefly before ending their relationship in February 2021. It was not until November 2021, when Robinson was arrested, that Monica discovered the truth about him and learned of the two murder charges filed against him.

Monica also alleged that Robinson told her he had previously been engaged. In real life, Skye Alexandra Allen was born on May 17, 1987, and appears to have grown up in Maryland. By 2018, she was living in Prince George’s County, Virginia, and was engaged to Anthony Robinson. According to Skye’s mother, Stacey Allen, the couple met through a dating app. The prosecutors have alleged that this is how Robinson connected with other victims as well. On February 14, 2018, Stacey said she went to check on her daughter after noticing there was no snoring or sound coming from her room. She explained that the silence made her think Skye was awake, but upon entering, she found her barely breathing. Skye was rushed to the hospital immediately.

Skye Allen’s Death Was Never Reported to the Authorities

Skye Allen was only 30 years old when she passed away. Her death was officially ruled as a cardiac arrhythmia, and the case was never taken to the police at the time. However, Stacey Allen has since shared that she always had doubts about her daughter’s death, particularly because it occurred in the room Skye had shared with Anthony Robinson. Stacey said that after Skye’s passing, she directly asked Robinson whether he had anything to do with it, but he denied any involvement. That conversation was the last time she spoke with him. It was not until November 2021 that authorities reached out to Stacey, informing her of Robinson’s arrest in connection with the murders of Allene Elizabeth Redmon and Tonita Smith.

Anthony Robinson

The investigation into Skye’s death is now being treated as a cold case. So far, there has been no concrete evidence directly linking Robinson to her death, and no charges have been filed against him in connection with it. The fact that her passing was never reported to police at the time, combined with her cremation, has made any renewed investigation significantly more challenging. Despite the lack of formal charges, Skye’s family has remained vocal about their doubts. They have expressed discomfort with the official ruling and continue to question what may have happened.
