Sniper: No Nation Plot Synopsis

After finishing their mission in Costa Verde, Brandon and Zero are aboard a private ship, hoping to go home to the US. However, the ship’s crew is loyal to Roman Díaz, the PM and de facto dictator of Costa Verde, and turns against the two. The sniper and Zero manage to fight their way out of the situation before a chopper shows up. Hours later, Zero is detained by an aging man named Frost, who is later revealed to be a friend of Thomas Beckett, Brandon’s father, and an elite sniper himself. Zero teams up with the two older men after they reveal that GRIT, the team that Brandon and Zero worked for, has been disavowed by the US government.
This happens because Roman puts political and diplomatic pressure on the US, forcing the White House to label Brandon, Zero, and their associates as threats to international peace and enemies of the state. As of now, Brandon and Zero are men with no nation, and the latter leads the two older men into Tierra Nueva, where the younger sniper is hiding. Meanwhile, Roman, through his loyal man Cabrera, hires the Iron Legion, a dangerous mercenary group led by the sadistic Kruger. To exact revenge against Brandon and team, Roman commands Kruger to find the younger sniper and also suppress the activities of Phoenix, the rebel group active in Costa Verde. Brandon feels guilty about abandoning Zondi, Angel, and Lorenzo, the main players within Phoenix.

When the young sniper makes contact with Zondi and the team, Kruger traces the communication, pins the rebels’ location, and carries out a mass slaughter. The surviving rebels, including Nova, Roman’s nephew, and Skylar, Nova’s half-sister, travel to Tierra Nueva and rendezvous with Brandon and team. Zondi, Angel, and Lorenzo are taken hostage by Kruger and placed in a secure detention and torture facility. Impressed by the Iron Legion, Roman offers them a permanent sanctuary in his country. To make an example out of Zondi and his fellow hostages, Roman plans to publicly execute them.
Back in Tierra Nueva, Brandon and Zero decide to help the hostages, but initially don’t receive any support from Nova, who feels that another violent mission within Costa Verde territory could jeopardize the Phoenix movement’s cause. Later, the young sniper suggests that they could hit the convoy, which is scheduled to transport Zondi and the others to the execution site. This plan sounds appealing to Nova and Skylar, who agree to help Brandon, Zero, Frost, and Thomas. With Nova and Skylar handling GPS and communication, the Becketts and their two teammates head to Costa Verde, where a brutal confrontation with Kruger and Roman awaits them.
Sniper: No Nation Ending: Is Thomas Dead or Alive? Why Does Zondi Betray Brandon?

Roman approaches a detained Zondi and promises that he is only trying to do what’s best for the country. The PM then convinces the hostage that he will offer gifts and incentives to turn against Phoenix and join forces with the ruling order and the Iron Legion. While Zondi has always been loyal to the rebel cause, this offer begins to confuse him, especially after Roman promises to spare his life. Brandon and the team arrive in the country and begin their rescue operation once the convoy leaves the detention center. Brandon and Thomas take sniping positions and manage to eliminate a few Iron Legion mercenaries. Zero fights on the ground and takes out one of the convoy trucks. Kruger is overwhelmed by the Becketts’ firepower and tries to escape by using Lorenzo as a human shield.
The rest of the convoy is soon destroyed by Brandon’s team. Angel fights against the mercenaries and frees herself from their clutches. Zero chases Kruger and then fights him brutally to save Lorenzo. At the end of this violent confrontation, Zero kills Kruger, effectively dismantling the Iron Legion by leaving it without a leader. With Angel and Lorenzo now safe, Zondi is the only one whose fate remains uncertain. Brandon gets down to the ground and fights off a few other mercenaries, finally saving Zondi. Minutes later, Zondi drives a truck away from the convoy hit site, with Brandon and Thomas joining him. While the father and son assume that their rescue mission is now complete, a shocking situation unfolds.

Zondi betrays them and drives them straight to the end of an unfinished bridge, where Roman and his men are waiting. Because of Roman’s tempting offer earlier, Zondi abandons his morality and unexpectedly switches sides. The younger and older snipers realize that they are now cornered and step out of the vehicle. Thomas uses the time he has left to fire a shot at Roman, but only manages to mildly injure his target. Roman takes out his gun and fires, and the screen goes dark, bringing the film to an end. We hear Brandon screaming, indicating that something terrible may have happened.
It is likely that Roman shot directly at Thomas and killed him, which would explain why Brandon is so overwhelmed. It is also possible that the PM probably only fired a warning shot and wants to hold the Becketts hostage to torture them and take revenge. Whether or not Thomas survives is a question that will only be answered in ‘Sniper: No Nation Part 2,’ the sequel announced before the end credits. It is definitely a possibility that Thomas might survive, despite the odds being against him. Brandon might have a significant role in ensuring that his father is not harmed, unless Roman has already hit his target.
Will Brandon Escape? How?
In a mid-credits sequence, Brandon is held hostage by Zondi, who is now loyal to Roman, and warns the sniper that he will erase his legacy. The young sniper says that he will not be held captive forever and will soon break free and answer Zondi’s betrayal. We see glimpses of the sequel, where Zero, Skylar, Angel, and others take part in fights and missions, most likely to rescue Brandon. The upcoming movie is set up as a direct confrontation between Zondi and Brandon, with each of them vowing to destroy the other. In glimpses of the sequel, Brandon is seen sitting in a small boat, suggesting he has somehow escaped from captivity.

The young sniper and Zondi will most likely come to blows in the upcoming film, where one of them may see the end. While being one of the best shooters in the world, Brandon is also a skilled fighter and tactician, which would allow him to escape, even if others don’t come to his rescue. One of the most important themes of the narrative is survival against overwhelming odds. Brandon is known for assessing the specifics of situations, which makes him a threat to his enemies. This will be another opportunity for him to prove why he is still an asset.
What Happens to Nova and Skylar? Will Zero and Frost Save the Becketts?
While Skylar is seen during the sequel glimpses, it can be presumed that Nova will continue to play an important role as well. Nova has a deeper interest in Costa Verde because he may seek to replace Roman as PM. Skylar and Nova may have to make greater sacrifices to keep the rebel cause alive, now that Zondi is no longer part of it. The brother and sister might operate from the outside and try to cause political chaos within the country. Skylar is seen recording a video, which could be Nova’s message to the people. While it is not possible to predict exactly what course of action the siblings will take, they will most likely seek to end Roman’s rule, irrespective of the consequences.

Zero and Frost may emerge as key players in rescuing the Becketts. While Thomas’ fate remains uncertain, Brandon still has a significant fight left in him. The sniper will need Zero and Frost’s help to take down Roman and his loyalists. If Zero, Frost, Brandon, Angel, Lorenzo, Skylar, and Nova are able to gather under one roof, they will possess the strike force necessary to bring down Roman’s regime. However, the dictator is a deceptive man who could go to any lengths to hang on to his power and influence.
