Where is Sofia Franklyn Now? Update on Ex-Call Her Daddy Host

With Hulu’s ‘Call Her Alex’ giving us a much deeper insight into the world of ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast host and media mogul Alexander “Alex” Cooper, we learn a lot more about her life and career. Therefore, of course, there is a whole portion of this 2-part production that is dedicated to how this incredibly successful podcast actually began and how she got where she did. Thus, her former co-host, roommate, and best friend, Sofia Franklyn, is also significantly mentioned, right up to how she decided to leave the organization in 2020 over contractual differences.

Sofia Franklyn Has a Background in Finance

Although not much regarding Sofia Franklyn’s early years is known as of writing, we do know she was raised in Utah by a single mother and hence learned the importance of financial stability at an early age. Hence, as soon as she graduated from high school, she decided to enrol at the University of Utah to pursue a Bachelor’s in Economics with the dream of making it to New York one day. Little did she know that she would land a job at Morgan Stanley straight out of college, where she remained for a total of 4 years before coming to terms with the fact that she really disliked her job.

According to records, by this point, Sofia had managed to relocate to the Big Apple, but she was so burnt out that she eventually decided to forgo a career in finance altogether. She knew she would miss the stable income, but she was burnt out and needed something more, which she actually found when she and her then-vlogger roommate, Alex Cooper, began talking about a podcast. They were best friends, similar in nature, and didn’t shy away from discussing relationships, hook-ups, sex, and much more, so they decided to co-host and co-launch ‘Call Her Daddy.’

Sofia Franklyn and Alex Cooper Had Different Visions For Their Future

‘Call Her Daddy’ was launched in 2018 from the apartment Sofia and Alex shared, and it was so quirky, open, and honest that it quickly captured the attention of a worldwide audience. In fact, they had over 2 million listeners in just two months, and after only a handful of episodes had been out, they finalized a deal with David Portnoy’s Barstool Sports for a 3-year $75,000 per year base salary and bonuses. Sofia and Alex were arguably the first two women at this organization, but they proved their mettle within weeks by continuing to climb the podcast charts.

It’s undeniable that Sofia and Alex were making Barstool Sports millions and millions of dollars, and while they reportedly did earn a total of $500,000 in their first year alone, it wasn’t enough for them. Therefore, they decided to renegotiate their contract in 2020, only for David to let them know that if they continued on, their base salary would be $500,000, and they’d get ownership of their entire show and IP next year. Alex believed this to be the deal of a lifetime, but Sofia was reportedly stuck on their reported ask of $1 million a year and a higher percentage of the merchandise sales, plus bonuses.

In the end, while Alex accepted Barstool’s offer and stayed on the path of continuing ‘Call Her Daddy’ under their banner for a year, Sofia parted ways with them for good. What followed was a lot of controversy regarding what precisely transpired between the parties involved, but the contractual issues have since been deemed the primary issue for the split. The girls had allegedly been struggling to work together behind the scenes since their friendship had taken a hit over creative differences. Yet, they were still determined to succeed in the podcasting world, which they both have done so, but separately.

Sofia Franklyn is Still Thriving as a Podcaster and Influencer

It wasn’t long after Sofia’s split with Alex and Barstool Sports that she decided to launch her own podcast, ‘Sofia with an F,’ which follows simpler themes of dating, sex, relationships, and mental health. This production is still active today, with nearly 290 episodes having already aired and new ones premiering every Thursday without any deals or paydays from big distributors. Nevertheless, as per Sofia’s own accounts on her show, she still earns more than she ever did at Barstool Sports with ‘Call Her Daddy’ thanks to her loyal listeners, merchandise, and the opportunities she has received as an influencer.

Of course, Sofia’s success is different from Alex’s, considering the latter’s multi-million dollar deals with Spotify and then SiriusXM before also having a tour, but she has made a mark for herself in her own right. The only thing she regrets is not taking more risks or believing in herself when she was younger; otherwise, she would have been following her creative instincts from the get-go. In fact, she believes that if her younger self knew what she was really capable of achieving, she would have likely studied English or Mass Communications instead of Economics at University; nevertheless, she is perfectly happy today. She and Alex aren’t really friends anymore, but they are successful women in the same industry and seem to have each other’s backs.

As for Sofia’s personal standing, it appears as if whenever she is not working or taking on new projects as an influencer, she is enjoying the fruits of her labor by traveling and treating herself. Whether it be to a few different states across the US or Europe, this proud New Yorker has experienced it all in the past few years, with Lake Como, Italy, being her most recent vacation. Coming to her relationships, the 32-year-old not only has some great friends and appears close to her brother Lukas, but also seems to be in a romantic involvement as of writing.

Sofia hasn’t really shared much regarding her current love life, but she did soft-launch her boyfriend in April 2025 with cozy pictures of them together from their getaway to Lake Como, Italy, but his face isn’t visible. Furthermore, it’s imperative to note that she continues to dedicate herself to her work, her loved ones, and her mental health. She is working hard to let the walls she built following her fallout with Alex Cooper crumble and finally be her real, authentic self at all times, no matter what.
