After surviving the robbers’ final attack at Lochmill Capital, the trade processor finally shakes off the threat looming over her. In the aftermath, all she has to do is comply with the story crafted by the MI5 and accept a new life and identity. Furthermore, her story concludes on a satisfying note as she and former detective Rhys Covac decode the truth about the billion-pound robbery and the identity of the mastermind behind it. Yet, while the protagonist’s narrative finds all loose ends neatly tied, her future remains open-ended. For the same reason, fans of the show are bound to grow eager for a follow-up season. Even though the possibility of a continuation remains uncertain at the time of writing, a swift renewal announcement could result in a potential season 2 as early as 2028.
Steal Season 2 Might Focus on Zara’s New Life
Zara Dunne undergoes an adventure and danger-ridden journey in season 1 of ‘Steal.’ As the plot progresses, she begins to realize that she has been chosen as an insider collaborator to be ultimately discarded as a scapegoat. These revelations, paired with the legal mess she has made of her life, compel her to seek out an escape and a new beginning. In the end, she finds just that by cooperating with the MI5. Her connections and knowledge of the Lochmill Capital investment firm make her privy to information that could potentially lead the authorities to the robbers behind the entire operation. As a result, she receives an offer to exchange this information for a new identity and a new start away from her old wounds in London.
Even though things take a few unforeseen turns after that, Zara eventually finds herself at a crossroads in her life, where she’s staring down the beginning of a new life. She has discovered the identity of the mastermind and has managed to squirrel away a code wallet that makes her 20 million pounds richer without having to be under anyone else’s favor. As a result, a world of possibilities remains ahead of her, many of which might even involve the progression of her situationship with ex-detective Rhys. Therefore, if the story decides to stick with Zara as the protagonist, we can expect the narrative to delve into her life under the new identity, Taylor Chloe.
Steal Season 2 Cast List Remains Uncertain
Since there hasn’t been an update on the possibility of season 2 as of now, the details of the season also remain relatively ambiguous. In many ways, season 1 charts a storyline that could potentially be a self-contained narrative without requiring a follow-up to the same central storyline. As such, the nature of a future continuation remains unpredictable. If the show continues centering around Zara’s character, we can expect many of the key players from season 1 to make a comeback. For one, Sophie Turner would continue playing the lead role in the crime thriller series.
Additionally, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd’s character Rhys Covac would also most likely make a return, especially if the show sticks with his romantic relationship with the protagonist. However, the possibility of seeing a return for Zara’s best friend Luke (Archie Madekwe) remains uncertain, given how things ended between the two characters. Alternatively, if the narrative continues to expand upon the narrative ideas introduced in season 1, there is also a possibility for the lead antagonist, Darren Yoshida (Andrew Koji), to reprise his role. Nonetheless, on the flip side, it’s also possible that the show might take an anthology route, inviting brand-new characters and subsequently cast members to take the center stage in future continuation(s).
