Helmed by Kery James and Leïla Sy, ‘Street Flow 3’ follows in the footsteps of ‘Street Flow 1’ and ‘Street Flow 2’ in capturing the complex inner lives of Demba, Soulaymaan, and Noumouké, three brothers with vastly different perspectives on life. Demba, the eldest, nearly loses himself to a life of crime, but ultimately redeems himself and rejoins the family. His younger brother, Soulaymaan, pursues a scholarly lifestyle, ultimately becoming a lawyer. At the middle point of this spectrum lies Noumouké, still a teenager, struggling to figure out what he desires from life. By the end of the third movie, all three brothers reach their own answers and act on them, even if it entails going their separate ways. As of writing, Netflix has not greenlit a fourth movie in the series, but in the best-case scenario, fans can expect ‘Street Flow 4’ to release sometime before 2029.
The Traoré Brothers’ Story Most Likely Concludes With Street Flow 3
As ‘Street Flow 3’ has been billed from the start as the final entry of the ‘Street Flow’ trilogy, the chances of a fourth movie being added to the series are exceedingly slim. However, that doesn’t change the fact that the movie ends on a partially open-ended note, with the fates of the three brothers hinted at but not explicitly confirmed. This leaves the door open for creators to continue Noumouké, Soulaymaan, and Demba’s individual storylines, and perhaps even reunite them to form a brand-new movie. That said, the official Netflix tagline for the series reads “Three brothers. Three movies,” which does yield a sense of definitiveness to the narrative structure. For a fourth movie to be made, the creators will likely have to rewire the story from the ground up, which is possible, but still quite challenging.

The ending of ‘Street Flow 3’ introduces the idea that the brothers have to go their separate ways in order to truly find themselves. While this translates into a positive turn for Soulaymaan, who is on track to become town mayor and revive his relationship with Lisa, for his older brother Demba, the trajectory is much darker. Noumouké’s arc concludes in the most layered fashion of them all, showing that he is ready to bury the demons of his past and start a new life free of toxic associations. While it is likely that he will begin a career in the hip-hop industry and likely succeed, it remains to be seen what he does with his newfound fame and social currency. Having been inspired by Malcolm X, Noumouké can take on the role of a true revolutionary in a potential fourth movie, setting himself apart from his two brothers.
A Potential Street Flow 4 Can Add More to Demba and Noumouké’s Arcs
Given that much of Noumouké’s characterisation in the ‘Street Flow’ trilogy is likely based on writer-director Kery James’ lived experiences, there is always a blueprint for a continuation of the character’s storyline. A potential fourth movie can expand on Noumouké’s relationship with Sofia, specifically in how it has changed since she was shot. While Noumouké’s story largely centers around him carving a path distinct from his brothers’, Sofia has the exact opposite arc, in that she gets closer to her family, specifically her estranged father. How these altered dynamics play out against the backdrop of Noumouké’s rise in the rap world can make for a dramatically potent plotline, and the same holds true for Soulaymaan’s budding relationship with Lisa.

While Demba’s arc technically concludes on an ambiguous note, various motifs indicate that he is well past the point of no return and will likely never reunite with his family in the old ways ever again. However, the fact that he tries to be a good person throughout the third movie and is still punished by the system indicates that there might be more to his story. A hypothetical ‘Street Flow 4’ can tap into the nitty-gritty of his dynamic with Djenaba, proving once and for all whether redemption is truly possible for him. Although all three brothers appear to be on their own paths now, it is undeniable that their hearts beat for each other. As such, the writing team can easily envision a plot thread that binds them all together once again. However, as of writing, neither Netflix nor the creative team seems to be moving in the direction of a fourth movie.
