‘Striking Distance’ is an action thriller film directed by Rowdy Herrington and centers on a Pittsburgh cop named Thomas Hardy, AKA Tom. Hailing from a lineage of police officers, Tom becomes an outcast among his peers after testifying against a fellow cop. Amidst a serial killer’s reign of terror in and around the city, a high-stakes pursuit ends in tragedy when Tom’s father and fellow cop, Vincent, is killed, seemingly by the fleeing serial killer. Although an individual is eventually apprehended, Tom remains convinced that the true killer is still at large, a stance dismissed by his colleagues as biased or delusional.
The fallout leads to Tom being forced out of the homicide division and transferred to the river rescue section instead. Two years later, despite his isolation, he maintains his original convictions about the killer roaming free. As new evidence suggests the murderer has returned, Tom’s warnings continue to be ignored by authorities, with some even suspecting him of foul play. The movie delves into the darker corners of the human mind while remaining engaging.
