Alan Marcum Recalled the Childhood He Shared With His Sister
Alan Marcum grew up alongside his sister, Sue Ann Marcum, whom he deeply admired. When speaking about her, he recalled how she once painted each wall of her bedroom a different color, which was a reflection of her vibrant energy and creative spirit. He described her as a bright, enthusiastic person who was full of life. Their parents, Stanley and Helen Marcum, had high hopes for both children and took great pride in their accomplishments. Alan also noted that his sister had a strong interest in Spanish, even taking classes in high school alongside his own studies in French.
The siblings were raised in Syracuse, New York, before eventually each forging their own paths in life. When Alan learned of his sister’s death in October 2010, he found it almost impossible to believe. At the time, he had no idea about the financial troubles she had been facing or the investments she had made with Jorge Rueda Landeros. He pressed police to identify and apprehend her killer, but that long-awaited response did not come until 12 years later, when Landeros was finally captured.
Alan Marcum is Living a Quiet Life With His Family
After Landeros’s trial, Alan Marcum spoke publicly about the long ordeal, saying, “It’s been a long 15 years.” He reflected on the immense pain his family endured over the years and noted that both of his parents, Stanley and Helen Marcum, passed away in 2014 and 2022, respectively, without ever seeing justice served for their daughter. Alan emphasized that while a measure of justice had finally been achieved, it could never bring his sister back, which he described as the greatest loss of all. He maintains a low public profile and rarely speaks about his private life with his wife, Barbara Marcum. The couple has two children, Joshua and Rachelle, and is believed to be living in Syracuse, New York.
