As part of Team Smart, Player No. 91 Sue Smey made headway into the game by drawing on the competitive instincts and resilience she had developed through her time on ‘Survivor.’ Her experience showed early on. She read situations well, stayed composed under pressure, and earned the respect of fellow contestants, many of whom recognized her as a strong and capable player. In episode four, during the high-stakes island challenge, Sue performed confidently and qualified without much trouble, ultimately placing within the top 20. She appeared well-positioned to continue building momentum, but her team lost the overall challenge and did not advance to the second round. When given the opportunity to vote, Sue cast her support for Ian, who ultimately went on to win.
Later, in the cubes challenge, Sue found herself in the red box alongside Jack and Tyler. With elimination looming, the trio agreed to decide their fate through a simple card game. Unbeknownst to Sue, Jack had manipulated the outcome beforehand. When the cards were drawn, Sue ended up with the lowest card and accepted the loss with grace and chose to sacrifice herself for the others. At the time, she had no idea the game had been rigged. Jack and Tyler revealed the truth only to the cameras. They expressed regret and said they would apologize once Sue eventually saw what had happened.
Sue Smey is the Founder of an Aviation Business Today
Sue Smey is currently a business owner and aviation professional based in Lagrangeville, New York. Since June 2020, she has operated Whiskey Foxtrot Aviation in a part-time capacity, a role she has held for more than five years. Through this venture, she is involved in aviation-focused work that reflects her long-standing interest in discipline-driven and high-responsibility fields. In addition to her aviation business, Sue has worked as a life coach since February 2019. She offers guidance centered on different walks of life and on areas that have been shaped by her competitive background and public-facing experiences. Beyond her professional work in business and coaching, Sue has also established a presence in the fashion and media space.
She is an active fashion model and, in August 2025, walked the Las Vegas runway for T. Smart Swimsuits. The show paid tribute to the King of Pop with the theme Man in the Mirror, and Sue was among the featured models selected for the event. Sue has also remained connected to the reality television community. Following her appearance on ‘Survivor,’ she has been invited onto multiple podcasts to discuss her experience on the show, including appearances on platforms such as The Reality Check Podcast. In addition, she regularly participates in fan events, meet-and-greets, and reality television-related gatherings. Today, Sue Smey is regarded as a recognizable figure within the reality TV circuit and keeps up with many media engagements.
Sue Smey Shares a Close Relationship With Her Daughter
Sue Smey has been open about the role her family plays in shaping her life and perspective. She has a daughter, Chelsea Vilardi, whom she has shared she became a mother to at a young age. Over the years, Sue has also spoken publicly about Chelsea’s struggles with Type 1 diabetes and has described the challenges their family faced while navigating diagnosis, care, and long-term management. During this time, Probst offered support to their family, something Sue has acknowledged with gratitude. She has said those difficult years tested them, but ultimately strengthened their bond and reinforced the values that continue to hold their family together.
Sue is also a grandmother to Aiden Joseph Hill, her grandson, who was born in June 2018. She frequently expresses pride in her role as a grandmother and the joy Aiden brings to her life. While Sue is divorced, she shared in a 2024 interview that she has been in a long-term relationship for approximately 15 years. She has chosen to keep that part of her life private. In February 2025, she revealed that she underwent MOHS surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer. She used the experience to encourage regular health checkups and skin screenings and said that early detection was critical. She has since shared that she is doing well and continues to prioritize her health and well-being.
