Created by Nick Keetch and Ty Freer, ‘Sunny Nights‘ steps into the world of Martin and Vicki, ordinary siblings turned rookie start-up CEOs, who wish to leave a legacy with their spray tanning product: Tansform. To do that, they invest every last penny they have into the product before moving from the US all the way to Sydney, Australia. While they indeed find their dreamed-of, sun-kissed landscapes there, what they don’t expect is to be swallowed by the criminal underworld. As one thing leads to another, Martin and Vicki find themselves partnering with a con artist in their race for survival. While the creators have not greenlit a second season as of writing, in the best-case scenario, fans can expect a sequel to release around 2028.
Sunny Nights Season 2 Will Likely Turn Terry Into an Antagonist
While ‘Sunny Nights’ doesn’t end its first season on a cliffhanger, Martin and Vicki are still left at their lowest point yet. Half of their company now belongs to Mony and her gang of criminals, and even after the siblings try their hardest to escape the murder investigations, they end up closer to it than ever before. As such, the template for a hypothetical season 2 of the story is already set, with Mony almost figuring out the truth numerous times, only for Susi, Martin, and Vicki to save themselves by some miracle. However, it wouldn’t be ‘Sunny Nights’ without a clever subversion at the end, and fans can expect each seeming victory to somehow give way to a much worse scenario, adding to the show’s unique brand of comedy.

Another big curveball introduced is Terry’s changing his mind about saving Martin and Vicki from certain death. While the trio maintains an unlikely connection for most of the season, everything goes wrong in the finale, when the siblings end up stealing all of Terry’s money, only to accidentally blow it up in smoke not long after. For Terry, this is hardly anything but plain old robbery, which means that there is nothing stopping him from chasing retribution. The fact that he digs up the snow globe used to kill Kash clearly suggests that he wants the truth to reach the whole wide world, but whether this plan bites him back remains to be seen. For now, Terry and Nova, who is also continuing her own investigation, are far greater threats to the siblings than Mony.
Sunny Nights Season 2 is Expected to Retain its Core Cast
Given that a potential ‘Sunny Nights 2’ is likely to pick up exactly where season 1 left off, fans can expect most of the cast members to reprise their respective roles. Alongside Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden, who essay the lead roles of Martin and Vicki Marvin, respectively, fans can expect Willie Mason to have a more prominent appearance as Terry Torres. Another actor who is bound to have a bigger role in the case of a sequel is Ra Chapman, whose character, Joyce, has secretly been driving the plot more than almost anyone else. In the same vein, there is a good chance of actor Megan Lilly Wilding stepping back into the role of Nova, though whether or not she remains on Joyce’s good side or bad cannot be determined just yet.

Notably, there are only two major deaths across the first season of the show, starting with the murder of Kash, which sets off the plot, and later, the murder of Skinner. As such, chances are that neither actor Miritana Hughes nor Justin Rosniak will be making an active appearance in a potential ‘Sunny Nights 2.’ However, given that Kash appears numerous times in the form of flashbacks, something similar can be expected going forward. Actor Jessica De Gouw, who steals the show as Susi in the first season, is also highly likely to don the fictional garb once again, in case her story is greenlit for a continuation. Rounding it off is the grand antagonist, Mony, whose continued dominance over the story means that actor Rachel House will likely have several more opportunities to show off her talents going forward.
Sunny Nights Season 2 Might Test Martin and Vicki’s Bond
Despite the siblings constantly creating problems for each other, the one thing that holds true throughout the season is their unflinching loyalty towards each other. It is this connection that gives them their last bits of hope by the end of the season, despite everything else spelling out their doom. A potential sequel to the story, as such, can experiment with the brother-sister bond further, playing on the fact that business executives prefer Martin’s reserved, simpler attitude to Vicki’s affinity for pizzazz. In the same vein, a second season is also bound to expand on the tripartite emotional struggle between Martin, Susi, and Joyce. While the latter has indirectly become a part of the puzzle, she has yet to decide on whether she wants a proper relationship with Martin. Susi is also in a similar predicament, and a sequel can definitely answer whether she is in love or still trapped in her own lies.

While the first season of ‘Sunny Nights’ doesn’t explicitly explain what medical condition Terry is dealing with, it is clear that the after-effects of his brain injury are now actively affecting his perception of time and space. Though the experimental cure hyped up for most of the season does show promise, he no longer has the money and is back in square one. With nothing to lose, Terry can easily emerge as the fiercest threat of a potential season 2, and that is not even including Mony in the conversation. Having killed Skinner, she is likely on the cusp of an all-out war with the rest of the mafia, and how Susi plays a part in all of this can make for a very interesting plotline. Lastly, there is Nova, who has been abandoned by her only friend, Joyce, but is also closer to solving the crocodile case than ever before. While Martin and Vicki worry about the most extraordinary of threats, it might just be Nova who pulls the plug on their shenanigans.
