Our favorite real estate exorcists will return to haunted houses later this year! The third season of SYFY’s paranormal drama series ‘SurrealEstate’ is slated to begin filming in St. John’s, Newfoundland, in November. George Olson, who created the show, continues to serve as the showrunner, with Paul Fox and Danishka Esterhazy returning to helm the episodes.
After exorcising the Donovan House in season 1, the second installment begins with Luke recovering from losing his powers, finding out that his mom is alive, and rejoining the Roman Agency, which is led by Susan in his absence. After rendering a number of spectral fumigations, many of the team members are seemingly prepared to go their separate ways.
However, as the season progresses, Luke unveils a new logo for the agency and makes Susan a full partner with an equal share in the firm, leading to joyous celebrations. Given the increased number of jobs piling up on their table, they talk about hiring new talent for the agency. The installment ends on a poignant note, with Luke saying goodbye to his father and visiting his grave with Carl accompanying him. They feel ready to explore what the future holds on their new paths.
With many of the main team members departing, season 2 left everyone, including the cast members, in the dark regarding the narrative of the third installment. The team may reunite to face an imminent threat, or new characters may be introduced as budding members of the Roman Ireland Agency.
“I’m petrified for what the ‘big bad’ house would be for season 3,” said lead actor Tim Rozon in an interview after the conclusion of the second installment. “Season 1 was already tough. And Season 2’s house was no joke. Now, if we’re all on our A-game, I can’t imagine what the ‘big bad’ house will be,” he added. In addition to Tim as Luke, we can also expect Sarah Levy as Susan in the upcoming season. The second installment also features Adam Korson as Phil, Maurice Dean Wint as August Ripley, Savannah Basley as Zooey L’Enfant, and Elena Juatco as Lomax.
St. John’s has served as the shooting location for both previous seasons of ‘SurrealEstate.’ “Our location—St. John’s, Newfoundland—has such a wonderful variety of housing stock, from beautiful contemporary houses to these historic Victorian homes with incredible woodwork,” explained Olson in an interview. “And while we love these big, old historic places like the Donovan House–which features so strongly in Season One, it’s almost a character–we wanted to make it clear that a house doesn’t need to be old and spooky to be ‘metaphysically engaged,” the creator added.
The city isn’t known for heavily featuring in the horror genre, but it has hosted the production of movies like ‘Screamers: The Hunting’ and ‘Behind the Wall’ within its borders.
