Forming alliances or pairing up strategically to advance in a reality show is nothing new. On Peacock’s ‘Love Island Games,’ several contestants followed that approach successfully. However, what Sydney Paight and Toby Aromolaran shared appeared to go beyond strategy. Sydney herself has referred to Toby as her “coworker,” making it clear that their connection was limited to the show. Even during the final competition, she mentioned that she only saw him as her partner in the game and nothing beyond that. The romantic side of their relationship, which had already begun to fade during the season, appears to have ended entirely once filming wrapped. Toby, in a later interview, reflected on his experience on the show and what it meant to him. He said, “The way I can express this to you guys is I went in Love Island, I found love, so if there was an opportunity to find love, why would I turn it down? You know what I mean?”
His words suggest that he remained open to the idea of finding a genuine connection, but he also acknowledged that things didn’t unfold as he had hoped. He admitted to feeling some regret over how he handled his time in the villa, especially regarding his decision to consider partnering with someone else. He explained that while it felt strategic in the moment, he would approach it differently in hindsight. Given that Toby and Sydney only spent a few days together on the show, it was always going to be challenging to transition that brief bond into something lasting in the real world. Since filming ended, neither has shared any indication of rekindling their relationship, and both seem focused on their individual lives and careers. At this point, the possibility of them pursuing anything romantic again appears to be extremely unlikely.
