‘Talamasca: The Secret Order’ expands upon the Immortal Universe, AMC’s projects, which adapt the work of Anne Rice. While ‘Interview With the Vampire’ and ‘Mayfair Witches’ center around characters from their respective titular supernatural populace, this show centers on a different aspect of the mystical world. The Talamasca is a secretive, global Intelligence organization that keeps tabs on vampires, witches, ghosts, demons, and any number of magical individuals and activities. The protagonist, Guy Anatole, learns about the agency shortly after completing law school, when he’s approached by the head of the New York Department with an intriguing job offer. Although the details surrounding the assignments are hazy, the offer promises to solve some of the more inscrutable enigmas of the law graduate’s mysterious childhood. As a result, Guy enters a world that remains hidden in the shadows.
Guy Anatole is a Mind Reader Who Joins Helen’s Off-the-Books Mission
Guy Anatole is the protagonist of ‘Talamasca: The Secret Order.’ At the beginning of his story, he’s a broke law graduate, interviewing for one of the top-paying companies, Cavitt and Associates. Fortunately, when the interview starts going south, he salvages the situation and snags the job opportunity using a neat trick up his sleeve: his mind-reading abilities. The young law school graduate grew up with a foster family, the Anatoles, and has lived with these inexplicable supernatural abilities his entire life. Although they can get overwhelming at times, he has learned to live with and take advantage of these powers. Initially, after Helen approaches him with her tempting offer, he only entertains it to solve his sinking financial issues. This takes Guy on an educational adventure wherein he learns about the Talamasca, pays a half-terrifying visit to a vampire named Burton, and even crosses paths with Daniel Molloy.

In tandem with discovering the secrets of the hidden supernatural world, Guy also learns that the Talamasca have had a lurking presence in his life throughout his childhood. From paying his foster family’s bills to getting him full-ride academic scholarships, Helen has had an invisible hand in his upbringing this entire time. More importantly, it seems entangling himself with the agency could help him unearth the mystery of his birth parents, who may or may not still be alive. Therefore, Guy ends up taking Helen up on her offer to join the agency and work on some of her more secretive and clandestine assignments. His first one takes him to London, where his paths promise to cross with Jasper, a strange and possibly menacing man who has taken over the city’s Mother House. Armed with little training and his mind-reading abilities, the young man dives headfirst into the best of the secrets that Talamasca has to keep.
Nicholas Denton Brings Guy Anatole to the Screen in Talamasca: The Secret Order
In ‘Talamasca: The Secret Order,’ Nicholas Denton steps into the role of Guy Anatole, a character in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe who is entirely original to the series. Unlike previous protagonists in the franchise, the mind-reading Talamasca agent isn’t based on a literary counterpart. Consequently, while Denton familiarized himself with previous adaptations of Rice’s work, watching the films and the series, he also wanted to infuse his character with an individual voice. For the same reason, he was eager to ground his character in the real world alongside the spy and immortal elements.

At New York Comic Con 2025, Denton shared his thoughts on the role and said, “Guy begins the story very controlled, very logical. When that control is taken from him, all he has left is instinct. That was something I had to learn, too, trusting my instincts on set.” The Australian actor’s television debut came in 2015, with the sci-fi drama show ‘Glitch,’ in which he plays the role of Angus Fitzgerald. Since then, he has been a part of various other titles, including shows like the period drama’ Dangerous Liaisons,’ ‘Utopia,’ and ‘My Life is Murder.’ Fans may also recognize him from his appearances on the big screen with films like ‘Witches of Blackwood,’ ‘Foe,’ ‘Eden,’ and ‘Alphabet Lane.’ Additionally, the actor has also dabbled in screenwriting through short films, ‘Rabbit,’ ‘Green Dog,’ ‘Pillars,’ and Not Dark Yet.’ ‘Talamasca: The Secret Order’ is the first project that brings Denton into the exciting spotlight of a leading role.
