Tanya Fandrich: What Happened to Kenny Fandrich’s Wife?

Kenneth and Tanya Fandrich

Tanya Fandrich had built a deep bond and a happy life with her husband, Kenneth Carl Fandrich, lovingly known as Kenny. However, their journey together came to an end in January 2023, when Kenneth was brutally killed in the parking garage of his workplace in Hillsboro, Oregon. His untimely death left Tanya and his loved ones completely shattered. CBS’ ’48 Hours: Murder in the Parking Garage’ revisits the case and sheds light on the circumstances surrounding the murder. It also features surveillance footage and other pieces of evidence that led to the arrest of the killer.

Tanya and Kenneth Fandrich’s 30 Years of Togetherness Suddenly Came to an End in 2023

Tanya and Kenneth Carl Fandrich, lovingly known as Kenny, met when the latter had established his underwater welding venture in Alaska. Soon, they grew close and tied the knot sometime around 1993. Shortly after, the couple moved to Oregon and settled in their new residence. According to official records, Tanya worked at a veterinary clinic for 20 years, which was run by Steven Neil Milner in Oregon City. She admittedly had an affair with him, but claimed to have cut off the connection when Kenneth found out about it. Following that, she returned to her normal life and spent 30 years together with her husband. However, Tanya’s life completely changed on January 27, 2023. On that day, she tried calling Kenneth, but when he didn’t return any of them, she contacted the authorities.

Tanya reportedly tracked Kenneth’s location using Find My iPhone and helped the officials locate him in the parking garage of an Intel Campus in Hillsboro, Oregon. They discovered Kenneth dead in the driver’s seat of his vehicle and noted that the CCTV cameras in the area were spray-painted. As the investigation progressed, Tanya informed the officials that Steven had allegedly grown obsessed with her and had been stalking her and Kenneth. Detectives found out that the authorities had even granted Kenneth a Stalking Protective Order (SPO) against Steven in March 2022. Further surveillance footage and court records revealed that he had also been following Kenneth around and was charged criminally. CCTV footage from the scene revealed a man wearing a mask, sunglasses, and a hard hat, spray-painting the cameras.

Tanya Fandrich’s Testimony Played a Major Role in the Killer’s Conviction

Investigators noted that the killer left the premises in a maroon minivan. It soon turned out that Steven had actually bought that car under a false name in early January 2023. He had previously purchased another vehicle around October 2022 and used both of them to reportedly stalk Kenneth. More surveillance footage surfaced, revealing that Steven had been spray-painting the parking garage cameras even before the day of the murder. Ultimately, he was arrested on January 31, 2023, and charged with second-degree murder, stalking, and seven counts of violating the SPO. Steven’s jury trial finally began in January 2025, and during that time, Tanya took the stand to testify.

Tanya testified that Steven allegedly used to write her letters obsessively after she ended their affair. Speaking on the stalking, she further added, “His level of aggression and vengefulness to try to come between me and my husband was unbearable.” Furthermore, she testified that her home surveillance had allegedly caught Steven sneaking into her and Kenneth’s home and placing trackers on their cars. Ultimately, the jury convicted him on all charges on January 22, 2025. Before his sentencing on February 18, 2025, Tanya expressed her grief, stating, “For years, you tormented Kenny and me, leaving us as your victims. But the pain that you have caused extends far beyond us. What you have done and what you have become—a killer and a cruel individual—have shattered countless innocent lives.”

Tanya continued, “Since you have given us a life sentence without Kenny, I ask and I pray that the judge gives you the maximum allowable sentence. For you do not deserve to ever have an ounce of hope or freedom in your life ever again.” Steven was ultimately sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years on February 18, 2025. However, if granted parole, Steven must first serve six more years in prison for violating the SPO. However, the fact that the SPO failed to save Kenneth’s life made Tanya quite upset, and she noted, “From the start, we never stood a chance.” As of writing, Tanya is leading a quiet life away from the prying eyes. No matter what the sentencing was, the loss of her beloved partner will always leave a gaping wound in her heart.
