In the episode titled ”Be My Savior’ of Investigation Discovery’s ‘Forbidden: Dying for Love,’ the primary focus is on the tragic killings of Terrance and Alisa McGhee, who were killed in Solway, Tennessee, in late June 2007. When the news of the double homicide broke out, the entire community was left shell-shocked. As the investigation dug deeper into the case, they uncovered a deadly murder plot within a few days and apprehended the perpetrators.
Terrance and Alisa McGhee Were Fatally Shot in Their Solway Home
On September 25, 1965, Doris Jean Teffetteller welcomed a little bundle of joy into the world in the form of Alisa Jean Hackworth. Raised with her sister, Kristie Renee Teffetteller, Alisa crossed paths with the love of her life, Terrance Charles “Terry” McGhee. The two made their relationship official by tying the knot in 2004 and starting a new chapter in their lives. Since Terrance had a daughter named Amanda Dawn McGhee from his previous relationship, Alisa treated her like one of her own. On the professional front, she worked at ZYP Coatings in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

As for Terrance, he was born on September 30, 1946, to Robert M. McGhee Jr. and Wanna W. McGhee and was the beloved brother of Timothy W. McGhee. Before Alisa, Terrance had been married twice — in 1964 to Helen Iris Jones Parish and in 1989 to Melody Dawn Osborne McGhee. Besides Amanda, he also fathered two more children — Terry Robert and Barry Todd. For more than two decades, he served as the Vice President at Knox Cartage Company, Inc., after which he retired. Leading a content life with each other, 60-year-old Terrance and 41-year-old Alisa McGhee met their sudden demise on June 29, 2007, in their Solway, Tennessee, home.
When Alisa failed to make it to her sister’s place on June 29, her loved ones tried to get in touch with her, but they couldn’t reach her or Terrance. A couple of days later, one of the couple’s relatives went to their residence to check on them. That’s when they spotted Alisa’s remains inside the house. After the authorities rushed to the scene of the crime, they found Alisa dead because of two fatal gunshot wounds — one in the back and the other in the arm. The latter shot ripped across her chest and punctured her lungs and heart. As for Terrance, he was located in the bedroom with a fatal gunshot wound to the back of the head. Thus, a double homicide investigation was immediately launched.
Terrance and Alisa McGhee Were Killed By Someone They Trusted Deeply
As part of the investigation, the authorities interviewed Terrance and Alisa McGhee’s family and friends to understand the circumstances surrounding their sudden passing. They learned that Amanda McGhee had been dating a man named Andrew Bryan Mann, whom Terrance and Alisa disapproved of. As per reports, Terrance pointed a gun at Andrew upon finding out about his romantic relationship with Amanda. Due to the constant tension, 15-year-old Amanda and Andrew came up with a deadly plan to kill the former’s parents. One of Andrew’s friends, Christopher Gordan Kirkland, was also aware of the couple’s plan. On the fateful morning of June 29, 2007, Amanda likely let Andrew into the Solway house, after which he shot Terrance in the back of the head in his sleep.

Eight hours later, when Alisa returned home, Terrance shot her to death as well. At the time, Amanda was also pregnant with Andrew’s child. According to Christopher, Terrance called him a few moments before the shooting to ask him if he should shoot Terrance in the back. Not taking it seriously, Christopher allegedly hung up on him as he was at work. Amanda’s friend, Rebecca Duggan, claimed that two days before the shooting, Amanda asked her to hand over a liquor bag, which contained Terrance’s gun, to Andrew. Upon learning that Amanda and Andrew were going to kill the former’s parents, Rebecca allegedly tried to warn them, but Amanda assured her that they were not going through with the plan.
Soon, on July 2, 2007, the police arrested Amanda McGhee, Andrew Mann, and Christopher Kirkland in connection with Terrance and Alisa McGhee’s murders. During her taped interrogation, Amanda claimed that she and her boyfriend orchestrated the killings for several weeks and that it initially involved battery acid before they decided to use her father’s gun. She was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. A few months later, on October 2, 2007, Andrew was indicted on two counts of first-degree premeditated murder, and Christopher was indicted on two counts of being an accessory after the fact to the murders.
Andrew Mann and Amanda McGhee Are Currently Incarcerated at Separate Tennessee Prisons

While in Knox County Juvenile custody, Amanda McGhee gave birth to her child. Meanwhile, Christopher Kirkland pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact. Andrew Mann stood trial not long after the arrest. During the trial, the prosecution contended that he killed Terrance and Alisa McGhee in fear of being jailed for statutory rape once they found out about Amanda’s pregnancy. On the other hand, the defense argued that the defendant was manipulated by Amanda, who claimed that Terrance was allegedly abusive towards her. Andrew took the stand and told the jury, “I said, ‘I can’t do this.’ She gave me a kiss. She said, ‘Baby, do it for us.'”He insisted, “I couldn’t think. I didn’t know what to do. My mind was spinning in a million different directions.”

In the end, in 2008, he was convicted of two counts of first-degree premeditated murder and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. As for Amanda, she pleaded guilty to the lesser charges of second-degree murder. In June 2009, she was sentenced to 20 years for the murder of her father, Terrance, and 25 years for the murder of her stepmother, Alisa. In the years that followed, the two convicts sought to have their convictions overturned, but the Court of Appeals denied their petitions. As of today, Andrew Mann is serving his sentence at the Morgan County Corrections Department in Wartburg, Tennessee, while Amanda is being held at the Debra Johnson Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, Tennessee, with her release scheduled for September 2048.
