Teyana Taylor’s feature directorial debut, ‘Get Lite,’ will be filmed in New York starting this April. Eric Gross wrote the story. Storm Reid is the only cast member revealed so far. The movie will be released on April 9, 2027.

The story follows Saunders, a headstrong Bronx teenager, who is caught between his love of Litefeet subway dancing and his strict father’s insistence on becoming an engineer. After he finagles his way onto a ragtag Litefeet crew, he’s exposed to an electrifying new world as well as a new crush. Now he has to decide who and what he’s willing to sacrifice in order to compete in the biggest dance competition of the year: Kingdome.
Teyana Taylor is recognizable as Detective Numa Baptiste from the Netflix cop movie ‘The Rip,’ also featuring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck; Perfidia Beverly Hills from Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘One Battle After Another,’ co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn; and Detective Kay Raymond from Tyler Perry’s Netflix drama ‘Straw,’ starring Taraji P. Henson. Other movies she has acted in include ‘The Book of Clarence,’ ‘Coming 2 America,’ ‘White Men Can’t Jump,’ and ‘Brotherly Love.’ It remains to be seen how she performs as a director.

Her other upcoming projects include the Netflix comedy movie ‘Roommates,’ co-starring Adam Sandler and Natasha Lyonne, and ‘Killing Winston Jones,’ another comedy featuring Richard Dreyfuss and Danny Glover.
