Logic is again on trial as season 2 of Fox’s ‘The 1% Club‘ reaches its thrilling finale. Episode 13, appropriately titled ‘Second Chance: I Put On My Redemption Wig/Second Chance: You Gotta Risk It For The Biscuit,’ breaks tradition in the most stunning way. It welcomes back the contestants who were previously eliminated. This bold twist offers them another shot at the $100,000 prize. To make it more interesting, it is a special two-hour event divided between 200 returning contestants. As always, the questions aren’t just trivia but rather cunning puzzles set from the easiest to the hardest. At the center of it all is the host Joel McHale, who keeps the energy sharp with his wit.
The Comeback Episode Begins With Early Heartbreaks and Quick Redemptions
The first part of the game night begins on a high note, with 100 contestants. Joel wastes no time in announcing the 90% question of the night after showing the players one image as the question and the three others as the options: Which of the pictures below can you make with these cutout shapes? As the time ticks away, the blue light reveals that the game has ended for four people, leaving only 96 behind. After declaring the correct answer to be option B, the host focuses on Jonathan, who, just like the previous time, has gone out on the first question. Another contestant, Trip, had also been eliminated on the first question previously. With the Prize Pot at $4,000, the game moves on to the 80% question, where the competitors again get three images as options and a question to solve.
It turns out that Jenny’s answer is incorrect. Well, the last time she appeared, she had no idea that the blue light means elimination, but she does now. Thus, the 80% question eliminates only one player, keeping 95 others in the game. Post getting it right, Hannah reveals that she has been angry since the last show, so she is ready to win this time. After hearing impressive sound effects from Hannah, Noel, and Shauna, Joel discloses that the Prize Pot now amounts to $5,000. During the 70% question, it becomes clear that the game is amping up as it keeps only 90 of the competitors in the competition and sends five of them home. Although Divine responds inaccurately, she exclaims she is glad to be back and has her redemption wig on. By the end of this question, the Prize Pot sits at $10,000.
Number of Players Tumbles to 24 as the Prize Money Continues to Rise
For the 60% question, the contestants must answer that if “Turducken” is a turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken, using that logic, a burger stuffed with a taco stuffed with a pizza would be (i) Butaczza, (ii) Buracopiz, or (iii) Pizacobur. As the time ends, the game leaves behind 85 individuals, knocking out five others. Leslie, who has the correct answer, discloses that she is a Paranormal Investigator and a Psychic Medium. With the Prize Pot now at $15,000, Joel informs everyone that for the following 10 questions, they can use their given $1,000 for a pass. It can help them move on to the next question, but they can utilize it only once. The host jumps right into the 50% question, where the players must state the number of portions of a US one-dollar bill in the given image. Surprisingly, it eliminates seven contestants who failed to provide the correct answer, which is “6.” Six of the 78 individuals left in the game have used their passes.
Joel discloses that Ahil has answered the 50% question correctly in less than a second. The host then announces that the Prize Pot is now at $28,000, before proceeding to the 45% question. It eliminates five competitors, keeping 73 of them in the game, among whom 16 people have used their passes. Sadly, Marcus fails to respond accurately as he is unaware of what an anagram means. With $49,000 in the Prize Pot, the players now face the 40% question, where they must say true or false from the three statements in their options. The question leaves everyone shocked as it knocks out 32 contestants in total. Of the 41 remaining players in the game, 18 have utilized their passes. Joel turns his attention to Brittney, who confesses that she didn’t finish reading the entirety of the options.
Brittney reveals that after her appearance on the show’s episode for the singles, she met her now partner, and thinks she may marry him someday. It is revealed that David, a Doorman from a hotel in Atlanta, has also gotten it wrong. With that being said, the Prize Pot now stands at $86,000. Things take a turn as the contestant pool narrows further during the 35% question, when it eliminates 16 people, leaving behind 25 of them. With five more passes used, the Prize Pot amount rises to $93,000. It turns out that Daniel C., who was also present in the Singles episode, has gotten his answer wrong. However, we then learn that he has met a school teacher, and they have spoken for over two hours after exchanging numbers. Following that, Joel reveals that seven people still have their passes, and they can keep going to face the 1% question or take their $1,000 and leave the show. Noel decides to leave with her money, which leaves only 24 players.
First Part of the Second-Chance Journey Ends With Ahil Winning $99,000
The 30% question knocks out eight more competitors, with only one contestant using their pass among the 16. Caroline answers accurately and reveals that she had actually gone to the final question last time. Paul and his brother, Ethan, maintained the streak and still retain their passes. Right after, Joel declares that the Prize Pot now holds $94,000. The 25% question keeps only seven competitors in the contest, among whom three have utilized their passes. Unfortunately, it leads to the elimination of nine more people but increases the Prize Pot amount to an impressive $97,000. The host then informs everyone that the players who can make it to the farthest can choose to leave with their share of $10,000 or decide to face the 1% question to win the entire Prize Pot amount.
Only Ethan and Paul still possess their passes as the game moves to the 20% question. Surprisingly, everyone answers correctly, making no change in the number of players left and the Prize Pot. Alexis, who gets it right, divulges that she previously went to the 1% question. If she wins this time, she will build a slide for her dog, who has arthritis. With that being said, the night proceeds to the 15% question, which knocks out another player. With just six individuals left and no passes used, there is no change in the prize amount. However, the situation changes during the 10% question, when the contestant pool is reduced to just 4, with two more eliminations. Surprisingly, Ethan utilizes his pass, bringing the Prize Pot to $98,000. Paul is the only person to have his $1,000, which is impressive because last time, he only got to the 20% question.
In the 5% question, Paul uses his pass and becomes one of the three final players since one of them is knocked out. Now, Ethan, Paul, and Ahil will decide if they want to play the 1% question to win $99,000 or leave with their share of $10,000, which is $3,333 each. Once they decide to risk it all, Joel shows them a poster and announces the final question: “I can never remember the combination for my wall safe, so I’ve hidden the five-number combo inside this motivational poster, with each of the numbers written in order, inside different words. What is the fourth number of my safe combination?” As the time ends, Paul discloses that he has wrongly put “0” as his response. While Ethan reveals “9” as his answer despite knowing the correct answer is “10,” Ahil divulges that he has chosen “10.” Ultimately, Joel announces that Ahil’s response is indeed the correct one, which means he is walking away with $99,000.
The Second Round Heats up With Tricky Visuals and Quick Thinking
The second part of the night commences with Joel getting right into action. The players are given three pictures of kettles as their options before they are asked the 90% question: “Which of these tea kettles is the worst one to use to pour boiling water on a tea bag?” Once the time comes to an end, the blue light sends home seven people in total, leaving behind only 93 contestants. The answer is Option C, but it makes Leon upset since he has gotten it wrong. Lisa, a Pastry Chef, is also in the same situation with the incorrect response. Likewise, Shayne has failed, but last time, he went up to the 20% question. The Prize Pot accumulates $7,000 before the 80% question is announced. For this one, the contestants receive a picture of mazes from which they have to spell a word that it creates.
To everyone’s shock, the question knocks out 16 competitors out of the game, bringing the numbers down to 77. Marquinta fails to provide “Code” as her response. She explains that she knew it was the correct answer, but pressed the wrong one. She also says that if she wins, she will get dental implants. Following this question, the amount in the Prize Pot goes up to $23,000. The 70% question keeps only 73 people in the game after sending four of them home. Nicole responds accurately, but went out on the 25% question during her previous appearance. With the Prize Pot now amounting to $27,000, the game moves on to the 60% question, in which the competitors have to tell the number of ties in the picture that is shown to them.
This time, three players miss their mark, keeping only 70 of them behind. Sadly, Myra could not guess that the correct answer is “7.” Joel discloses that she is a part of a traveling dance troupe. The atmosphere further lightens up as she gets down to the stage with another competitor and they dance it off playfully. By the end of the 60% question, the Prize Pot is at $30,000 in total. Everyone is informed that they can use their $1,000 to pass on to the next question. Right after, the contestants are shown another image for the 50% question. It eliminates nine competitors; three of the remaining 61 contestants use their pass. The wrong answers and the used passes eventually help increase the Prize Pot to $42,000.
With Every Question, the Stakes and Excitement Grow Higher
Joel doesn’t spare much time to present the contestants with an image of multiple stars, and their challenge is to name the color of the star that is on top of the pile. The host is soon delighted to find out that no one is eliminated because they have correctly responded with “White.” However, Joel adds that five among them have used their passes. Mike C. utilizes his $1,000 because he was eliminated during this question last time. He further adds that he will buy groceries if he succeeds in winning the money. Ultimately, it is revealed that the Prize Pot now amounts to $47,000. Three of these people pass on the question, while 12 of their journeys end here. The 40% question reduces the number of contestants to 49. After Joel announces that Mike and Erica’s responses are incorrect, he notes that the prize meter has amped up to $57,000.
The 35% question leaves Joel surprised since he finds out that 15 out of the 47 competitors have utilized their passes. However, the blue light reveals the elimination of three contestants. Considering the used passes and the eliminations, the Prize Pot amount goes up to $73,000. The host then brings their attention to the fact that the 27 people who still possess their passes can keep going or use their $1,000 and leave the game. Once the time for the decision ends, Joel announces that four of the players have decided to part with their money. The night moves on to the 30% question. This time, only two people among the remaining 40 pass the question, and it knocks out three formidable opponents. Jermaine answers correctly, but was eliminated during the 80% question previously.
Upon winning, Jermaine wants to get a wig and sweat gland removal surgery. Moving on, Joel declares that the Prize Pot now contains $76,000. Once again, the 25% question sends home 13 contestants, while eight people use their pass. Since Robin is eliminated, she now regrets not taking the $1,000. With $86,000 in the pot, the host reminds everyone that the players who go the farthest in the competition can decide to take their share of $10,000 instead of facing the 1% question. The thrill of the game continues to rise as 10 competitors are knocked out. As six among the 17 remaining individuals choose to utilize their $1,000, it is revealed that they have contributed to the Prize Pot, which now stands at $92,000.
In a Nail-Biting Finish, Andrew Cracks the Final Puzzle and Wins $96,000
For the 15% question, the players again receive an image. However, four of them missed the mark on the actual response, which is “Carol.” Although 13 people remain in the game, four of them didn’t hesitate to pass on the question. Andrew answers the question accurately and reveals that although he is currently in a Private Equity job, he also maintains a YouTube channel where he teaches how to grow bananas. As the competition inches closer to the end, the Prize Pot reads $96,000. During the 10% question, nine contestants are knocked out, leaving the game up to the four remaining ones. As the night proceeds to the 5% question, two more individuals are unfortunately eliminated. Ultimately, the game comes down to Hannah and Andrew, who will now face the 1% question.
Nevertheless, Hannah and Andrew must decide whether they want to continue playing or leave with $5,000 each as a share of the $10,000. They boldly decide to keep going, and hence, they have to respond to the question: “TENT+1= UFO, ICE+2= KEG, and COLD+3= ?” After locking the answer, Hannah discloses that she has entered “Win” because nothing came to her mind, and she was reluctant to provide no response. On the other hand, Andrew’s logic helped him choose “Frog” as the answer. To his absolute delight, Joel reveals that Andrew has actually given the accurate response. By the end of the season, he becomes the player to join the 1% Club officially and walk away proudly with $96,000.
