The Accident Season 3 Plot and Cast Theories

Created by Leonardo Padrón, season 2 of Netflix’s ‘The Accident,’ originally titled ‘Accidente,’ features the four traumatized families at their most violent yet, as mistrust and paranoia push some to do the unthinkable. With El Charro out for blood, both Emiliano and Daniela take one risk after another to ensure that their family is safe. While Carla starts the next chapter in life, the wounds of the past year make things difficult, as in the case of Lupe, Brenda, and Javier. The sophomore run of this Mexican drama thriller series ends with El Charro being shot by Emiliano in a climactic showdown. However, it is Lupe who finishes the job, not out of malice, but a desire to end the cycle of bloodshed for good. Nonetheless, her own gruesome and equally mysterious conclusion shows that the story isn’t over just yet. While Netflix has not greenlit a third sequel as of writing, in the best-case scenario, fans can expect season 3 sometime around early 2027.

The Accident Season 3 Might Solve Lupe’s Murder Mystery

The second season of ‘The Accident’ ends with a dichotomy of fates, as while some families heal their fractured relationships, others are completely devastated. Most importantly, both El Charro and Lupe are now dead, leaving behind Alex, who plans to go to Spain to resolve his identity crisis. Although the narrative points to Yola being the perpetrator in Lupe’s murder, since she was most likely poisoned by the chocolate, this connection is never outright confirmed. The cliffhanger of Yola escaping the city, as such, might be an intentional misdirection. Still, it is up to Daniela and her team to figure out what truly happened to Lupe, and what that means for the rest of the families. With antagonistic forces such as Tamara still out there, and possibly hungry for vengeance, neither Emiliano nor his family can rest easy anytime soon.

Another ongoing mystery is the supernatural nature of Paula’s conversations with Rodrigo. While her foreknowledge of certain things, such as Daniela’s tattoo, does point to Rodrigo being a real ghost or spiritual presence who is communicating with his friend, it is equally likely that she is imagining all of this. What this plot reveals, however, is a path towards many relationships’ healing. Carla and Fabian’s relationship is likely to blossom further, and a potential sequel might see them tying the knot. Daniela and Emiliano’s dynamic is also on track towards recovering its former strength, especially now that the worst is behind them. For Alex, however, Spain remains an unpredictable trajectory, especially now that we have a glimpse into his darker side. Thus, whether or not he and Lucia come out of this hiatus emotionally healthier than before is a possible dramatic angle to explore in the next season.

The Accident Season 3 Can Expect Two Major Departures in the Cast

Given that season 2 ends with the death of two main characters, El Charro and Lupe, actors Alberto Guerra and Eréndira Ibarra are unlikely to reprise their respective roles for a potential sequel. On the other hand, ‘The Accident’ employs a number of flashbacks in its storytelling, which suggests that the possibility of the characters reappearing cannot be ruled out. Sebastián Martínez and Ana Claudia Talancón are likely to step into the lead roles of Emiliano Lobo and Daniela Robles, respectively. On top of that, fans can expect actors Regina Blandón and Erick Elias to reappear more prominently in a potential season 3 as Carla Robles and Fabian Vallejo, respectively, given their budding relationship arc.

Actors Addie Beth Ross, Macarena García Romero, and Sebastian Dante are likely to return to the roles of Paula Vallejo, Lucia Lobo, and Alex Mejia, respectively, as any potential continuation of the story is bound to focus on these three characters. The same can be said about actors Ruben Zamora and Valentina Acosta, who have maintained a steady and compelling presence as Javier Serrano and Brenda Malpica. However, whether or not Shani Lozano reprises her role as Yolanda in the show remains to be seen, as her arc is at its most unpredictable juncture by the end of season 2. The same holds true for Barbara de Regil, who stole the spotlight in a single season as Tamara. Given that we last see her trying to escape the city as well, there is a chance we might not see the character if the next chapter of the story is greenlit.

The Accident Season 3 Might See Alex and Lucia Break the Cycle For Good

‘The Accident’ season 2’s biggest thematic talking point is about the cycle of hatred, and how all characters unwittingly participate in it, one way or another. The only exception to this rule thus far is the youngest generations, with Alex, Lucia, and Paula breaking away from their parents’ perspectives and finding their own. To that end, a potential continuation of the story might focus on their individual arcs. Although the two teens have broken up for now, they are still deeply in love, and this opens the door to many possible romantic developments. Furthermore, as Paula’s story also has a spiritual flair to it, the show might even engage a genre shift, as both Paula, Fabian, and Carla come together to understand whether Rodrigo is a ghost or just a hallucination. This also serves to deepen the relationship between Fabian and Carla, as the possibility of a real love story is just around the corner.

Brenda and Javier’s relationship in season 2 is a bumpy ride that culminates with both of them realizing the importance of transparency. With Cayetana out of the equation, it is likely that the couple will continue to learn from their mistakes and grow. The same holds true for the lead pair, Daniela and Emiliano, who end the season with a dance date. At the start, we see Daniela struggle with her job due to the lingering trauma of her son’s death, but that is likely to change now, especially after the arrest of the chief of police. Emiliano might return to law as well, gradually letting go of the emotional burden that came with the death of his son. However, the fate of Yola and her children remains shrouded in darkness, as it is likely that she will be targeted by the police yet again, further fueling the vengeful cycle in the process.
