Season 7 of ‘The Chi’ brings many exciting twists and unexpected turns. Arguably, Alicia’s death in the finale, episode 12 titled ‘Rebirth,’ remains the most shocking development. Throughout the season, the woman has been picking rivalries left and right in an effort to avenge the death of her son, Rob, and clean up the streets of the city of criminality and violence. As a result, she inevitably makes enemies with Reg, who is eager to take over the city’s mob, as well as Nuck, the actual mob boss. Even though she isn’t yet in the know about the latter’s involvement in her son’s murder, Alicia is equally as eager to deliver both men to their demises. Therefore, it’s all the more surprising when this rivalry isn’t what leads to the woman’s fate. Instead, she gets shot down in her own house by another woman named Roselyn, a player who has been absent from the game for some time now. SPOILERS AHEAD!
Roselyn is Loyal to Douda Even After His Death
Even though Roselyn is missing from much of the action in season 7, she still remains a notable player to watch. Early in the season, the woman takes her departure in the aftermath of her husband’s death. She and Douda had an unconventional marriage, one that didn’t necessarily come with continued romantic commitment. Somewhere along the line, both parties drifted apart from each other, marking the end of the romance in their relationship. In fact, both the husband and the wife have different relationships of their own with partners outside of their marriage. Nonetheless, they never separate.
The duo’s marital arrangement remains intrinsic to their dynamic, adding a special layer of trust and loyalty between them. Still, in the immediate aftermath of Douda’s death, Roselyn shows no clear signs of seeking revenge. However, her return to the city tells a different story. As it turns out, Roselyn found a note from Douda, wherein he had instructed her to avenge his death, in the event of any foul play. The distance between this instance and the widow’s departure from the city remains ambiguous. Therefore, there’s a chance that she had been absent all this time, biding her time in secret to make an explosive, vengeful comeback.
Roselyn Targets Alicia After Paying Nuck a Visit
Initially, Roselyn’s search for revenge brings her to the right person, Nuck. The latter, Douda’s former number two, had killed him in the nick of time and asserted himself as the new mob boss in town. Nonetheless, when faced with the direct consequence of his action, he decides to play it safe and sheds all responsibility for the murder. When the widow breaks into his lair and confronts him, he easily shrugs off any connection to the murder. Instead, Nuck implicates Alicia for the death, insisting that she was the one to pull the trigger on Douda. Alicia has a long history of animosity with Roselyn’s husband, who had killed the former’s brother.
Therefore, their rivalry was well-documented. Furthermore, Alicia did have a plan in place to murder Douda, employing the help of his traitorous girlfriend, Bianca. Nevertheless, Nuck had intervened at the last moment and stolen the chance of revenge from her, killing Douda with his own hands instead. Thus, even though Alicia isn’t directly responsible for the death, it’s very easy to frame the narrative with her as the killer. Once Roselyn confronts the other woman, she finds a similar truth. Even though Alicia denies having the blood of the other woman’s husband on her hands, she doesn’t shy away from the fact that she had wanted the latter dead.
In the end, it’s this very thing that gets Alicia killed at Roselyn’s hands. Even so, in the aftermath, the latter manages to flee from the scene. Thus, ultimately, Shaad and Victor, the two people who find her dead body in her house, run the risk of taking the fall for the murder. After all, when the police arrive on the premises, they’re the ones caught with the blood on their hands. Alternatively, Alicia’s death comes as somewhat of a relief to Nuck. Since he’s the real killer behind Rob’s death, he had the most to lose from Alicia’s vengeful wrath. Yet, it’s possible that in her absence, he would be forced to face a new enemy: Roselyn, who now knows about his hand in Douda’s murder.
