Since the startling revelation about the inside job behind Vanessa’s death, things have gone topsy-turvy for the Sanchez family in season 4 of ‘The Cleaning Lady.’ Jorge’s thirst for revenge and burgeoning feelings for his pretend-wife have pushed him into a scathing war with the Hellers. Such a dangerous rivalry, paired with the inner politics in Sin Cara, brings an unprecedented level of threat to the cartel. Naturally, it isn’t long before Thony finds herself swapping out her scrubs for a lethal suit in order to play her role as the spouse of the cartel boss. As a result, episode 10, aptly titled ‘Queen For a Day,’ finds the cartel doctor going head-to-head against Sam Heller. Nonetheless, every risky play she makes, even the most reliable ones, ends up coming with a steep price to pay. SPOILERS AHEAD!
Jorge Sanchez Finds Himself in Big Trouble
In the last episode, Jorge skips an ultimatum meeting with Sam Heller to carry out his revenge against Cowboy Hat. A desire for vengeance over Vanessa’s death and growing protectiveness over Thony colored his motivations, leaving no chance for a deal to be struck with his new enemy. As a result, the latter continues to hold possession of the mines, further aggravating the investors’ faith in Sin Cara and its ability to deliver financially. Consequently, the cartel ends up in hot water with their enemies, as Heller’s men disregard all rules and go after the cartel members and their families. Furthermore, someone sends Thony the location of an attack, forcing her to witness the aftermath of the massacre that left even young kids dead.
Yet, even after the horror of witnessing such a bloodbath, more is in store for Thony. When she meets up with Jorge at the Sanchez residence, the house is being ransacked by the authorities under the DEA’s orders. As it turns out, Herman is hellbent on finding some dirt on the cartel boss to take him into custody. This poses a particular problem for the latter, who is planning a heist to get his organization’s reputation back on track. Unfortunately for him, someone seems to have planted the perfect evidence, a photograph of Rex and his family, in the house. As such, the ADA has enough proof to arrest Jorge on the spot, adding even more complications in Sin Cara’s future.
Thony Carries Out a Risky Heist
In Jorge’s absence, Sin Cara faces an uncertain future. To keep the investors off their backs, the cartel needs to acquire 250 million dollars within two days. Therefore, Thony decides to fill the vacuum her husband leaves behind by stepping in and carrying out the planned heist. She’s determined not to have any more deaths happen on this feud between the Sanchezes and the Hellers. However, that means she’s also unwilling to complete the heist exactly how Jorge would have with a gun in his hands. Initially, she tries to find a solution by having a civil conversation with Sam on his own turf. She asserts that since he took something from the Sin Cara, the papers to the mine, he must pay a price, 25 million.
Unsurprisingly, Sam turns down the offer, intent on nursing his ego that Jorge had bruised by not showing up at their meeting. As such, he leaves Thony with no other choice but to come up with a more aggressive plan. Luckily for her, Fiona’s business partner, Benny, has a convenient non-violent solution for her problem. He has access to a virus that will freeze all of Heller’s business transactions, costing him millions by the second. All Thony has to do is install a hard drive into the building’s mainframe to activate it. Infiltrating Heller Diversified makes for a daunting task, especially once the stand-in cartel leader gets banned from the premises. Even so, with some teamwork and underhanded tactics, she manages to complete her mission, walking out of Heller’s den 25 million richer.
An Unimaginable Betrayal Awaits Thony
Despite being legally married, Thony and Jorge have an immensely complicated relationship. The duo only tied the knot to ensure that they couldn’t be forced to testify against each other in Rex Barkley’s death. However, after putting up with the act of marital life and working together, the pair naturally grew to develop certain feelings for one another. On her part, Thony is more confused about these feelings, which is why she makes the impulsive decision to sleep with her co-worker, Dr. DuPont. However, Jorge has become more certain of his own emotions, even confessing to them in a voicemail left at the former’s phone.
By a twist of fate, Thony fails to listen to this message before her husband’s arrest. Still, before going through with the Heller heist, she opens her voicemails and finally hears Jorge’s confession about wanting to give their marriage a real try. This cements her own growing feelings for him. Consequently, once Jorge is released from Herman’s custody, she rushes to make a declaration of love of her own. However, instead of a happily ever after, something much more nefarious is in store for her. Apparently, during his interrogation, Jorge made the baffling decision to go back on his promise and throw Thony under the bus for Rex’s murder. As a result, moments after their reunion, Herman arrives to arrest the cartel doctor. The turn of events is incredibly startling, which compels one to believe the cartel boss must have some mysterious trick up his sleeve. Still, whether or not his wife chooses to trust him going forward remains yet to be seen.
