The CW has greenlit a brand-new rom-com TV movie, ‘Ordinary Girl in a Tiara!’ Moviedelic can confirm that filming is set to begin in Toronto, Ontario, on August 19. While details about the cast and crew are still under wraps, the screenplay is adapted from the eponymous novel by Pamela Hartshorne, who released it under the pen name Jessica Hart.
‘Ordinary Girl in a Tiara’ revolves around Caro Cartwright, who, after being unceremoniously dumped by her affluent fiancé, swears to keep her expectations low and her choices ordinary to avoid more heartbreaks in the future. However, these plans take an unexpected turn when her old friend, Princess Lotty, persuades her to stage a sensational royal diversion. Reluctantly, Caro agrees and transforms her modest life into that of European royalty, becoming the latest love interest of Prince Philippe of Montluce.
The narrative takes its shape when the playboy prince, initially skeptical of Caro’s ability to fit the role, is soon taken away by her warmth, humor, and occasional fashion faux pas. As their fake relationship becomes increasingly convincing, Caro finds herself torn. Philippe, genuinely taken with the new ‘princess,’ urges Caro to continue to live this extraordinary life as the Princess of Montluce. This fantasy of a future challenges the latter’s insecurities as she grapples with the notion that, in reality, ordinary girls don’t become princesses.
