The CW has a moving romantic drama in store for its audience! Moviedelic can reveal that the network has ordered the television film adaptation of Claire Robyns’ novel ‘Second-Guessing Fate.’ The shooting of the movie is scheduled to start on August 6 in Edmonton, Alberta. The crew and cast of the project have yet to be announced.
A contemporary romance, ‘Second-Guessing Fate’ revolves around Gemma, a catering company owner who finds herself on a collision course with heartbreak. When her best friend convinces her to see a fortune-teller, she learns that she will face a devastating breakup that will eventually lead her to her true soulmate. Skeptical at first, she starts to believe the prophecy when other predictions come true. The fast-paced story sees her encountering Nick, a charming man with gray eyes. Despite her growing feelings for him, Gemma is determined to make him leave her before she falls too hard. Nick, whose ex has just told him that he is a terrible boyfriend, is on a mission to prove otherwise. Ready to settle down with the right woman, he genuinely considers Gemma to be that person.
The narrative progresses with Gemma’s efforts to push him away with increasingly outrageous tactics. However, Nick remains steadfast in his pursuit. The comedy of errors sees him enduring her attempts to drive him off, all while maintaining his affection for her. As fate would have it, their whirlwind of a relationship becomes a hilarious combination of insecurity, occasional laugh-fest moments, and down-to-earth human experiences combined with steamy romance.
Notably, Robyns’ novel has been compared to the tactics seen in the Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey classic ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,’ with fortune-telling perfectly replacing the writing gig of the movie.
The addition of ‘Second-Guessing Fate’ certainly makes The CW’s slate of upcoming projects all the more promising. With the detective drama ‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’ already filming and another TV movie, ‘The Dachshund Wears Prada,’ slated to enter production in August, the network is expanding its offerings. As for the forthcoming season, ‘The Librarians’ universe is returning with the spinoff ‘The Librarians: The Next Chapter.’
The future lineup of the network bears heavy expectations, aiming to fill the shoes of various ongoing hits, such as ‘Superman & Lois’ and ‘All American: Homecoming,’ which are due to conclude with their final seasons later this year. The parent show of the latter, ‘All American,’ has been renewed for another installment and will continue to entertain the viewers for a longer run.
Edmonton is a renowned city in the province of Alberta. It has hosted some of the most influential television productions in the past, ranging from the 1970s ‘SCTV’ franchise to the ongoing HBO hit ‘The Last of Us.’ Moreover, the region was also utilized for the acclaimed Western drama ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.’
