Isla Thompson and Theo Garrison’s affecting saga will be brought to life again on screen! Moviedelic can confirm that The CW has ordered the television film adaptation of Stefanie London’s romantic novel ‘The Dachshund Wears Prada.’ The project will commence shooting in Montreal on August 5. The cast and crew members of the TV movie are currently under wraps.
Set against the backdrop of a cutthroat world in Manhattan, ‘The Dachshund Wears Prada’ is a character-driven narrative that follows social media consultant Isla Thompson, whose career suffers irretrievable damage when a viral mishap ruins a young artist’s career. Burdened with a tarnished reputation, Isla struggles to make ends meet and care for her fourteen-year-old sister, Dani. Her fortune changes when she reluctantly accepts a job tending to a demanding dachshund named Camilla. Over time, Isla realizes that Camilla, despite her difficult behavior, is not as daunting as she seems, much like her owner, Theo Garrison. Living in a contrasting world from Isla, Theo is a wealthy man who shields himself behind a stern facade after the loss of his grandmother—his only family—who left him her beloved dog.
As the narrative progresses, Isla spends more time with Theo, and she discovers his hidden kindness and humor, which challenges her initial perceptions. Her growing feelings for him unexpectedly blur the lines between personal and professional lives. This poses a dilemma, as loving him possibly means giving up her aspirations and retreating into his world of luxury, which she is reluctant to do to teach her sister that hard work pays off. Throughout the story, Isla’s journey of self-discovery sees her navigating uncharted territories while finding unexpected joy in her new role. Her evolving relationship with Theo pushes her to confront her fears and insecurities, ultimately inspiring her to pursue her dreams.
London’s novel was originally published in May 2022. The literary work is the first installment in the book series ‘Paws in the City.’ The romantic drama was followed by ‘Pets of Park Avenue’ and ‘Confessions of a Canine Drama Queen.’
Montreal is the largest city in the province of Québec. The production team is expected to use Downtown Montreal, as well as numerous other regions, to stand in for Manhattan and other New York City boroughs. Located on opposite sides of the border, the two cities share similar climatic conditions and geography, making Montreal an ideal stand-in for NYC, especially during the summer. Montreal has a rich history of hosting productions for big studios and networks, having previously doubled for the Empire City in films like ‘Scream VI,’ ‘The Day After Tomorrow,’ ‘The Bone Collector,’ and ‘Feardotcom.’
