The Floor Season 3 Episode 7 Recap: A New Contender

The third season of Fox’s game show ‘The Floor’ continues to capture the audience’s attention with its surprising twists and fierce battles. Episode 7, titled ‘A New Contender,’ further intensifies as the contestants step forward to test their knowledge in categories like Pasta, Crayon Colors, Tony-Award Winners, and Hunting and Camping. Rob Lowe further sets the stage, letting the contestants know that by the end of the night, eight of them will have to bid goodbye to their time on the show. With Brian having bagged $100,000 already, winning $20,000 at the end of every night, Rob states that anyone’s luck can change in mere seconds.

The Game Begins With Decisions and Duels That Change Everything

Since the last episode ended with Chef Steven winning the duel, he now faces an important decision. He can either choose to challenge or select to stay on the safe side. He mentions that, although he had a lot of time to prepare for the trees category, he will choose a different game plan for now. He refuses to make the wrong decision because it may end up sending him home. According to the Chef, his position in the corner has given him a unique advantage. He further expresses his belief that he has already started to intimidate other players with his deep knowledge of his acquired category of boy bands.

With Steven choosing to stick to the floor, the Randomizer is once again activated. It stops on Marvel man- Baron, whose options are then laid before him. He ends up choosing Priscilla as his opponent, whose category is Backyard Games. Rob jokes that this can get very ugly quickly, but Priscilla is quite excited and ready to take her opponent on. They receive the challenge to identify the toy or the game. As the images start flashing on the screen, everyone’s eyes are on the stage. At the end of the tough battle, Priscilla ends up going home. Upon asking what his next move will be, Baron reveals that he plans on eventually challenging Brian. However, he admits that while he wants to play an offensive game, he has decided to defend his Marvel category and wants to go back to the floor.

Once again, the Randomizer gets to work and chooses Cassie, a flight attendant who has aviation as her category. With her options of Rodeo and Congress lying before her, she expresses elatedly how eagerly she has been waiting for this moment. She chooses Congress and challenges Jay, breaking their earlier agreement to go after Brian. But since his categories keep changing, she ultimately opts for the easier option. Although Jay is surprised, he remains confident, stating that he knows his stuff. According to him, Cassie really has strong competition coming her way. As a former political science major and a self-proclaimed Twitter addict, he claims that he is used to recognizing members of Congress very easily.

With Every Passing Battle, Brian’s Standing and the Competition Grows Fierce

Rob declares that Cassie and Jay’s challenge is to identify the US senators or representatives. As the duel begins, she starts struggling right away, providing Jay with the advantage. This ultimately helps him to secure a win. The host praises him for how he has stood his ground and compliments him on his knowledge regarding his category. When the time for his decision finally arrives, he proudly accepts that he has not been shy about his plans. Hence, he wants to challenge Brian for the next battle. However, this does not seem to faze Brian. He acknowledges that although Rodeo may be new to him, this is not his first duel.

The host teases Brian about his historic streak that is in the making and how he can use his winnings to fund future projects in his career. Brian is an actor (‘Clerks’), director, producer, and podcaster. The next challenge officially begins with them having to name an item, event, or attraction from the Rodeo category. The tension grows because whoever wins this match will control 14 territories. It ultimately ends up being a very close battle, but when Jay passes on one item, it ultimately ends up costing him the game. As Jay leaves the stage, Rob remarks that Brian’s winning streak is unlike anything they have ever seen. He ends up inheriting the category of Aviation. For now, he expresses his willingness to defend his own category and decides to go back to the floor.

In order to choose the next challenger, the Randomizer is activated again. Meanwhile, David, who holds European Geography as his category, reflects on his strategy. He discloses that he has been lying low and avoiding becoming a major target. However, compared to his journey on ‘Jeopardy!’, he states that there is no one in the competition that he needs to be afraid of. After all, he is not only a former 19-day champion on that game show but also holds the eighth-longest streak in its history. On the other hand, Kaylie, with the Billionaires category, divulges her belief that Brian is still the biggest contender on ‘The Floor.’ She predicts he will continue to knock other players out one by one.

With 5 Duels Remaining, Anyone Could Dominate the Game

With only five duels left in the episode, the Randomizer gets back to work again. As it selects Phil, who holds the Song of the Year category, he decides to challenge Amanda, whose specialty is Pasta. Amanda is really confident because she has really put in the work to master this. When the host asks her if she is excited, she confidently says she feels good about this. Rob announces their challenge, which is to identify the shape of the pasta they will see on the screen. Meanwhile, Chef Steven explains the different types of the said item to the other contestants as the battle starts playing out. With a head-to-head competition, the atmosphere remains intense. However, in the final moments, Phil passes twice on his answers, leading to his downfall. When Rob returns to the stage, he admits that for a moment, he thought Amanda was going to lose.

Rob extends his well wishes to Phil and says that having him on the show has been fun. Meanwhile, Amanda jokingly remarks that although she has inherited Song of the Year, she cannot sing. For now, she decides to defend her category rather than challenge anyone else. To bring the next challenger onto this stage, the Randomizer spins once again, landing on Spark from the Rom-com category. He receives the current three options: Competition Shows, Languages, and Latin Musicians. He says during his contemplation that he does not know a lot of Latin Musicians. Surprising everyone, he proceeds to state that tonight, he is trying to fix that. Hence, he will choose Sifat from this category for his challenge. As the duel is about to begin, he can be seen to be visibly nervous.

After a very intense battle, Spark fails to prevail and gets eliminated. Rob refers to the match as “nerve-wracking “and informs Sifat that she has won by a mere 3 seconds. When making her subsequent decision, she says that she is not ready to go back to the floor. So, for her next challenge, she focuses on Stephanie and her category of Crayon Colors. She divulges that she chose this because she had time to prepare and is quite confident. On the other hand, Stephanie concedes she has been waiting for a challenger and feels more than ready. The host once again reminds Sifat that she is in a position to soon take on Brian, if she wants. She gets excited and hopes to tie with him in tile numbers if she wins, potentially paving her way to $20,000. The challenge begins with them identifying the missing words of the colors on the screen. After a nail-biting competition, it is Stephanie who emerges victorious, gaining 10 pieces of the floor.

The Final Duels of the Night Reveal More Formidable Competitors

Stephanie is very happy to inherit the Rom-com category, and she decides to duel again. With just 2 more duels left for the night, she selects to challenge Jeorgi from the category of Tony Winners. Jeorgi is well-versed in this because of her background as a theatre kid, but Stephanie believes she can get on her competitor’s nerves. With just 45 seconds on the clock, as routine, they get ready to identify the Broadway performers turned Tony Winners. However, the nerves do indeed seem to get the best of Jeorgi, leading to her exit and her opponent ending up with 11 tiles. With just one last duel left for the night, the decision now falls on her if she will pursue her chance to get a time boost. With the category options before her eyes, Rob reminds her that it is her opportunity to tie up with Brian and divide the $20k tonight.

Stephanie says that she wants to go neck-to-neck with Brian gradually and challenges Mike in the category of Hunting and Camping. This match is quite important with so much at stake, especially because if she wins, she will end up with the exact number of territories as Brian and gain a Time Boost. Her opponent agrees that someone needs to go against Brian, but it will be him. Rob welcomes him on the stage and announces that this is the biggest duel of the night, with 14 pieces of floor on the line. With the challenge to identify the items on the screen, the night’s final battle commences, heightening the tension. However, Stephanie’s dream seems to shatter before her eyes as she bids goodbye to everyone. Following this, Rob congratulates Brian and Mike for their big win of $10k each for the night. It is now high time to look forward to finding out who will be the next dominant player on the show.
