The Hunting Wives Season 2: What to Expect if Renewed?

Created by Rebecca Cutter, Netflix’s ‘The Hunting Wives’ follows the story of Sophie O’Neil, who moves to the town of Maple Brook in East Texas to start her life anew with her husband and son. Things change drastically for her when she meets Margo Banks and her clique of women who form an exclusive inner circle with complicated relationships. In the midst of this, a young girl named Abby is murdered, and as Sophie gets entangled in the murder investigation, she discovers some shocking truths about Margo and other women. The season ends with Sophie discovering that Margo is the real killer, but also finding herself in a tight spot after killing Margo’s brother, Kyle. The season ends on a cliffhanger, and the way things are set up, the audience will be vying for another season. Should Netflix greenlight another season, we expect it to land sometime in late 2026.

The Hunting Wives Season 2 Will Focus on the Case of Kyle’s Disappearance

In the finale of ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 1, Sophie discovers that Margo killed Abby and decides to go to the cops about it. She leaves a message for Detective Wanda Salazar, but before she can reveal the truth about Margo, Sophie is confronted by Kyle, and to protect herself, she runs him over with her car. Because she had been drinking and driving, she is forced to dispose of Kyle’s body rather than go to the cops about it. On top of that, when Margo calls Kyle, Sophie accidentally picks up the phone, leading Margo to realise exactly what has happened.

Now that Margo and Sophie know of each other’s crimes, it seems that neither of them has the motivation to rat out the other. If Sophie tells the cops about Margo, the latter can point them towards Kyle’s murder, which will lead Sophie to lose everything she hasn’t already. The second season will focus on this precarious balance of mutual understanding, where both women will try to keep each other’s secrets. However, with Detective Salazar finding Kyle’s car in the middle of the road, an investigation will be launched, putting Sophie in another tough situation.

The Hunting Wives Season 2 Will Explore Sophie and Margo’s Complex Relationship

If things hadn’t already been difficult between Sophie and Margo, they will become even more so now. Despite Sophie finding out about her crime and threatening to go to the cops, it is clear that Margo still loves her. If it wasn’t so, she would have easily found a way to get rid of her. She has had Kyle do her dirty work in the past, but this time, she tells her brother not to bother Sophie at all. Instead, she goes to Callie and gets her help in burying anything that Sophie might try to tell the cops. In the same vein, despite feeling betrayed by Margo, Sophie still has feelings for her, which are in conflict with her desire to be with her husband, Graham. Once the women come to a mutual understanding of not outing each other’s secrets, they might spend more time together, resurfacing their romantic feelings for each other.

Additionally, the season will have Detective Salazar looking into Kyle’s disappearance, while she also has her doubts about Jill’s guilt in Abby’s death. She has proven to be a relentless investigator with a keen eye for detail and sharp instincts. While a lot of things are still out of her reach, the second season might give her a chance to unravel some of the secrets of the townsfolk and get closer to the truth, which does not bode well for Sophie or Margo. Meanwhile, the second season will also expand the storylines of other characters. Callie and Jonny will start working on their reality show, while Jed continues to push for his election as the mayor of Texas while indulging in an affair with his PR head.

The Hunting Wives Season 2 Might Introduce New Characters

With Sophie and Margo being the heart of ‘The Hunting Wives,’ Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman will be returning to continue their toxic romance. The second season will also mark the return of Dermot Mulroney as Jed Banks, Jaime Ray Newman as Callie, Karen Rodriguez as Detective Wanda Salazar, Branton Box as Jonny, and Evan Jonigkeit as Graham. With Jill and Starr dying in the penultimate episode and Kyle being murdered in the finale, Katie Lowes, Chrissy Metz, and Michael Aaron Milligan are not expected to return.

In their place, the show might introduce some new characters who will stir trouble for Sophie and Margo, threatening to expose their secrets. This could also be in the context of Jed’s political career, as a rival is supposed to surface to make things more challenging for him, especially considering that one such person has already been hinted at with the presence of the enigmatic one-eyed man, who had been looking into the Banks family to dig up their secrets.
