The first season of Apple TV+’s ‘The Last Frontier’ comes to an end in a finale that takes many explosive twists and turns. The story began with a plane crash that let loose many prisoners in the Alaskan wilderness near Fairbanks. However, it soon turned out that the crash was related to a major conspiracy that’s finally unraveled in ‘Everything Trying.’ The tenth episode picks up where its predecessor left off. Bradford and her men have surrounded Sidney and Havlock, but that’s what the duo wanted. It turns out that they left crumbs for Bradford to follow, leading her to the isolated location where she could finally be confronted with the consequences of her actions. And it’s not just Sidney and Havlock that she has to answer to. It’s all the operatives who worked for her without knowing that she was going to kill them when they didn’t serve any purpose for her. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Bradford Faces the Consequences of Her Actions
Since Bradford’s actions caused the deaths of the field operatives, Havlock and Sidney reach out to those operatives and bring them out of the field and to Fairbanks, so that they can confront Bradford about what she had been doing. Sidney leaves her to face the music while she heads out to upload the Archive from the hard drive Havlock gave her to the server. For a moment, it seems Bradford will be unable to escape this situation, but then she launches an attack that leads to a fight between her men and those who are no longer working for her. Around the same time, Frank arrives with the cavalry just in time to save Havlock from getting shot in the face. Meanwhile, Bradford follows Sidney and stops her from uploading the file.

Their fight ends with Bradford stabbing Sidney, but falling off the bridge into the waters below. A wounded Sidney almost falls as well, but Havlock saves her. At the same time, Frank finds them, and his focus shifts from arresting them to helping Sidney. When it becomes clear that she is fatally wounded and immediately needs help, Frank makes a plan to get her the help she needs. At the same time, she tells Havlock to escape, and though he is reluctant, he decides to do it. While she is put in a car to be taken to the nearby village where she can be treated, Frank notices Havlock slipping away and chases after him. Even though he catches him, Havlock points out that he can either save Sidney or arrest him. Eventually, Frank chooses to focus on Sidney, which turns out to be for the best because she is in a terrible state.
Sidney Fights for Her Life
Even when she is brought to the nearby village, it becomes clear that her chances of survival are not good. Bradford stabbed her in the liver, and the injury can only be treated in a proper hospital. The healers in the village keep her alive for the time being, but they tell Frank to find a way to get her back to Fairbanks, though it will be difficult because she cannot be moved too much. Another problem is that they haven’t had a fuel supply for a couple of days, and the roads are all snowed in, so calling for help will be useless too. Despite the challenges, Frank refuses to give up, which leads to a solution. A sled pulled by huskies is made for him to carry Sidney in so that they can reach the point where he can carry her in a car.

The odds don’t look in their favor, but Frank is ready to take that chance, so he sets off with her. When he reaches the car, the man refuses to help Sidney, holding her responsible for the deaths of their people. But Frank threatens to slap a few charges on him, since he had been clearly playing fast and loose with minor laws. This forces the man to give up, and in the end, Frank succeeds in getting Sidney the help she needs. Before Sidney is taken into the operating room, she hands over the disk to Frank. He knows what it is and why it is important to get it to the right person. The problem is that he doesn’t know whom to trust. Eventually, he turns towards Ted, a local politician whom Frank can trust with his life.
He gives him a basic overview of what to expect from the materials on the hard drive and promises to explain everything once he has reviewed it. With that, he is assured that the truth will come out and everything that happened so far won’t be for naught. Around the same time, he also gets news of a burned vehicle found in the woods. Because the body is charred, no DNA test can be done. However, it is noted that the body is missing the same tooth that Havlock pulled out to hide a wire he used to free himself on the plane. This convinces them that the body is Havlock’s, and though Frank is not convinced, he is too tired to keep following Havlock’s trail, so he accepts this version and decides to move on.
Do Luke and Sarah Come Back? What Happens to the Gun?
Before the plane crashed in Fairbanks, Frank had been planning to retire and open a bed and breakfast with his wife. The place was bought, and they were all but ready to turn over a new leaf, but then the plane crashed, Havlock came into their lives, and opened the can of secrets. Frank was forced to confront the fact that his act of suppressing evidence to ensure that a dangerous criminal went to prison led to the shootout that claimed his daughter’s life. When he shared this information with his wife and son, they were infuriated and decided to step away from him for a while. After the case is officially closed, Frank goes to his new house and cleans it up. The next day, Sarah and Luke arrive there, and they have a family meeting. It turns out that the mother and son have given considerable thought to Frank’s revelations and have decided to forgive him and move forward as a family.

Frank tells them that he is ready to face the consequences of his actions and is going to turn in the gun, the evidence that he stole. However, Sarah and Luke speak out against it, citing that it will not only not bring Ruby back, but it will also take Frank away from them, and no one wants that. Frank reiterates that such actions have devastating consequences, but Sarah and Luke tell him that whatever comes next, they’ll face as a family. So, Frank must get rid of the gun, and they can all forget about it. Frank does what his family asks of him and throws the gun into the river, where it won’t be found by anyone else. That evening, they sit down by the bonfire and, one by one, burn all the notes in Ruby’s jar as a way to remember her but also bid her goodbye and move on to the next chapter of their lives.
This is a major step for them, and while Frank may not be entirely happy about once again burying the evidence, he wants nothing more than having his wife and son by his side, and that’s all that matters. Some time later, we find Frank and Sarah fixing up the place, with Luke and Kira lending a hand. Everyone is in a happy mood. Frank starts the music, and he and Sarah dance, which prompts Luke and Kira to leave. Everything is perfect, until the phone rings. At first, Sarah thinks it might be a customer, but when she picks up the phone, it’s for Frank. He expects someone from the station, but the voice turns out to be of someone entirely unexpected.
What Happens to Sidney and Havlock?
While Frank knew Havlock wasn’t dead, he thought the man would be on the run and would never return to Fairbanks. But when he turns out to be on the other end of the phone, he becomes alarmed. Before he made up with his family, Frank met with Sidney in the hospital after her surgery. Despite her condition, she survived. However, she knows that this only means she will be tried for her crimes and will most likely spend the rest of her life in prison. Frank tells her about finding the dead body in the woods, though clearly, she too isn’t convinced that it’s her husband. He also tells her about the hard drive he gave to his friend, and she confesses that she knows it will not end well for her. So, later, when Havlock calls Frank, who’d just started to rebuild his life, it becomes clear that things haven’t really ended yet.

The former spy tells the cop that he is now at the center of everything. While Frank tries to tell him to stay away from Fairbanks, Havlock says it won’t be possible and that he only called to find out how he and his family were doing. Before Frank can say something else, Havlock cuts the call, and we find him standing outside the place where Sidney is going to be moved to prison. Some of her wounds are still visible, but she has recuperated enough to walk. Before she is put in the back of the vehicle, she sees her husband in the distance and realizes what is about to happen. Sure enough, Havlock is not there alone. He is accompanied by the shadow operatives whom he’d called to Fairbanks to confront Bradford and make her pay. Some of them died while fighting her men, but some survived. Now, they are ready to help him break his wife out of prison.
With this, it becomes clear that Sidney is unlikely to go to prison anytime soon. Even as she sits in the back of the vehicle that is to drive her to prison and the door closes, she smiles because not only is her husband alive and well, as opposed to what Frank told her, but he has also come back for her. Despite everything that has happened so far, it is clear that Sidney and Havlock’s bond is still strong, as he tells the operatives that he really loves his wife. This also means that once Sidney is freed, they will not disappear off the face of the Earth. The hard drive with the Archive is still out there, and they will not rest until they finish what they started and the truth about Bradford comes out.
