The highly anticipated fourth installment in the cult classic ‘The Mummy’ franchise is finally getting into production. Principal photography will take place between August and December this year in the UK and Morocco. Fan-favorites Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are joining forces as Rick O’Connell and Evelyn O’Connell after ‘The Mummy Returns,’ which came out in 2001. It waits to be seen how their chemistry is treated since Maria Bello played Evelyn in ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.’ The story, written by David Coggeshall, is under wraps for now. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct the feature.

Brendan Fraser returned to the big screen with his Oscar-winning performance as Charlie in ‘The Whale.’ Since then, we saw him as Phillip Vanderploeg in ‘Rental Family,’ Peter Swann in the action drama series ‘Professionals,’ W.S. Hamilton in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ and Farful in ‘Brothers.’ We will next see him as former US President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Anthony Maras’s war drama ‘Pressure.’ He will also feature in Andy Garcia’s crime noir drama ‘Diamond.’
Rachel Weisz starred alongside Britne Oldford in the Prime Video horror thriller show ‘Dead Ringers,’ which follows twin sisters on a mission to change the way women give birth. She also played Melina in the MCU drama ‘Black Widow’ and voiced the character in the animated series ‘What If…?’ Her upcoming project is the Netflix series ‘Vladimir.’ It centers on a woman whose life spirals out of control as she becomes obsessed with her alluring coworker. It will be released on March 5 this year.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have co-directed many horror movies, including ‘Devil’s Due,’ ‘Ready or Not,’ ‘Scream,’ ‘Scream VI,’ and ‘Abigail.’
Horror movies filmed in the UK include ‘28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,’ ‘Frankenstein,’ ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites,’ and ‘Speak No Evil.’ Morocco served as the production base for movies like ‘Revenge,’ ‘The Hills Have Eyes,’ ‘Exorcist: The Beginning,’ and ‘The Deep Dark.’
