Meanwhile, Elliot is in a significant dilemma, torn between his desire to tell Kat about his kiss with Emma and his curiosity about why he did it in the first place. Del also has to figure out why Sam is hesitant to share everything he knows about Casey. With so many secrets lurking between the two couples, their future seems ambiguous. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Kat’s Confession Sows Division Within the Landrys
The seventh episode begins with Kat breaking the truth about Colton’s death to Del inside the Landry farmhouse. She explains the entire thing in detail but keeps Alice out of the story. The latter overhears her mom and grandmother’s exchange from the stairs. After Kat finishes the story, Del walks away, clearly hurt. Alice asks Kat why she did not mention her role in the entire story. Her mother assures her that she wants to endure the blame rather than point it towards her daughter. Time passes, and Del maintains a distance from Kat. Alice asks her grandmother to clear the air as the family is drifting apart otherwise. In the 1816 timeline, Elijah asks Jacob why he did not return to the present day. The latter is still reeling from Kat not sharing the truth earlier.
A couple of messengers arrives at the farmhouse, inviting Jacob to Lingermore. Meanwhile, in the present day, Kat struggles to go back in time through the lake. She informs Elliot about the pond rejecting her, which he understands as a sign that Kat’s presence is needed in the present day. While she contends with her dilemma, Elliot feels guilty about his earlier kiss with Emma. He tells Nick that he will eventually talk about it with Kat. However, he is clearly hesitating, knowing that it could have ramifications for their relationship moving forward. At the Lingermore estate, Jacob meets up with Susanna, who is the one behind the invitation. She asks him why he did not return to the present day with his sister. Thomas enters from a side entrance and asks Jacob to go back to Kat. Cyrus breaks up their meeting and escorts Jacob and Thomas out.
Alice Learns More About Casey While Del Shares a Secret With Rita
For the last few episodes, Alice has been avoiding Max Goodwin, fearing that he may be her future husband. As she despises his attitude, Alice cannot imagine a future where they end up together or the fact that Casey might be their child. Still, her avoidant behavior reaches a limit in episode 7 as schoolwork beckons. Max sends her a text to catch up on their group project, inviting her to Lingermore. She shows up at his place and tells him she is already familiar with the estate except for one room – the attic. He takes her up there, and the two begin discussing the past stories of other Goodwins. The mention of Evelyn’s name affects Max, who snaps at Alice for talking about stuff other than the project. He tells her to concentrate on their work. Subsequently, Alice returns home, where she reveals the truth about her part in Colton’s death to Del.
Del consoles Alice and tells her she does not blame her. The following day, Alice and Kat meet up at the cafe, where they start discussing Casey. Kat is still skeptical about Alice’s theory that Casey is a time traveler. However, the latter shows up out of the blue to answer their questions. Casey reveals that they had been squatting in the Lingermore attic the previous year. They also state that Lewis is their second cousin and that he gave them a safe haven during a challenging year of their family life. After hearing the explanation, Kat is even more convinced that Casey is not a time traveler, but Alice remains doubtful. At the Landry farm, Del invites Rita inside to show her the threatening letters she has received since Jacob’s return home. Rita tells Del that Sam might be involved somehow.
Later, Del confronts Sam about keeping secrets from her, especially with regard to the help he provided Casey. Sam also gets angry with Del and accuses her of lying to him as well, pointing out that there is more to Jacob’s disappearance than she is letting on. In 1816, Thomas encourages Jacob to return to the present day and to let go of his anger towards Kat. Although hesitant, Jacob eventually listens to reason and jumps into the lake. Intriguingly, Thomas joins him as well. However, he is unable to travel through time and surfaces back, saying “Enough.” Meanwhile, the present-day gang gets involved in a karaoke night session at the cafe, with Kat and Elliot being handed the privilege of singing in front of a packed audience. It has a positive impact as Kat and Elliot reconnect slightly while the former also hugs Del.
Alice and Jacob Make Monumental Discoveries
Kat and Del return to the Landry farmhouse and have a frank discussion about their estrangement. Del forgives her daughter, explaining that she, too, questions her own role in Colton’s death. The two embrace and decide to travel to 1816 together to bring back Jacob. However, before they can leave, Jacob makes his entrance, surprising them both. While he keeps his distance from Kat, things improve within the Landry household following his return. Kat expresses her relief to Elliot, who is supportive of her. He then tells her the truth behind his kiss with Emma, which leaves her doubtful about what to do next with their relationship. Meanwhile, Alice heads to the 1970s to catch up with Colton and Evelyn. She manages to witness Del’s last day in Port Haven, which leaves Colton devastated. Subsequently, Alice consoles her grandfather.
In the present day, Alice asks Jacob why he is speaking to her, knowing she shares the responsibility for Colton’s death with Kat. Jacob is hesitant to share but forgives Alice nonetheless. The young girl convinces Jacob to talk with Elliot as he was her confidante in the past. Jacob follows her advice and meets up with him, stating that he feels robbed of his time with his father, especially as everyone else got to spend years with him. This is why he feels hurt about Kat’s confession. Kat overhears the conversation and feels relieved that Jacob is opening up. She also breaks up with Elliot in the short term, stating that she is going to move back to the farm and needs him more as a “friend.” She subsequently heads back in time to 1816, where she meets up with Thomas. After telling him about Elliot kissing someone else, Thomas kisses her, stating that she has done the same.
Jacob and Kat have an emotional exchange about Colton in the Landry living room. While uncovering one of Colton’s old records, Jacob stumbles upon an ancient picture of his dad from his teenage years. He immediately recognizes the boy as the same person who came to him during the 1800s. He confirms to Del that Colton is a time traveler, after all. Meanwhile, Alice runs into Casey outside the Landry farm. She apologizes for doubting their origins and reasons for being in Port Haven. However, while leaving, Alice recognizes the ring around Casey’s neck. When she poses the question, Casey says that it is a family symbol before sprinting away. Alice follows them to the lake right as they jump into the water. They don’t emerge back, confirming that Alice’s suspicions have been true after all and Casey is someone from the future.
