Season 16, AKA Collection 13, of Netflix’s ‘The Great British Baking Show’ introduces the viewers to 12 unforgettable bakers, each bringing their unique story and flavor. Among them was Thomas Arden, also known as Tom, whose confidence and stunningly presented creations quickly won the judges over. His journey in the kitchen began at home with his mother and Danish grandmother. His calm and collected presence under pressure during the competition set him apart. His every preparation carried incredible attention to detail, with only occasional minor slipups. So, it didn’t take him much time to overcome the early challenges. He successfully created a showstopper that even earned him a compliment from the judge, Paul Hollywood, stating, “You’re a good baker, Tom.”
Tom Arden is a Creative Entrepreneur Who Has Pursued His Love For Baking
Tom Arden’s love for baking began in the most memorable way possible alongside his mother and grandmother, who is of Danish origin. In the initial days of his baking journey, he mastered creating simple scones and flapjacks. Those early kitchen sessions planted the seeds of a lifelong passion. However, as a teenager, he said he carried the fear that his secret love for baking might reveal more about his sexuality than he was ready for at the time. Tom eventually overcame that fear and channeled his energy into sports. He is currently an active member of two queer sports teams while keeping his baking passion alive in the background. Life gradually led Tom towards creative entrepreneurship, resulting in the setting up of his own Advertising Agency. Despite his other endeavors, he has never strayed too far from the culinary art.
During the competition, Tom stepped back from his agency to reconnect with baking, which was his first love. As of writing, he has focused his creative flair on beautifully presented bakes. He also engages with his fans through social media and has gradually been growing his digital presence. Tom currently has over 3K followers on Instagram. While he has not shared much about his current professional life, his feed often provides occasional glimpses into his life. On the platform, he receives support from his friends, acquaintances, and fans. Several of them frequently leave praises and encouraging messages for him; some of which include “Your showstopper was so great” and “All I needed was one episode. You’re my winner this season, no matter how it turns out. You have all of my support!”
Tom Arden Cherishes Every Moment He Spends With His Partner and Family
At the time of the competition, it was revealed that Tom had been in a steady 3-year relationship with his boyfriend, George Harding-Rolls. Together, they have built a home filled with love and joy in London, England, where they lead a fulfilling life in the company of their two adorable pups. Although the couple prefers to keep their relationship private, small moments often slip through on social media. George sometimes leaves affectionate comments on his partner’s posts through his private account on Instagram. His devotion to Tom shines through his artwork, most notably in a portrait of Tom that he drew and proudly shared on his feed. In January 2025, the duo attended a concert together and traveled to see several landmarks alongside their friends.
Tom is exceptionally close to his family, especially his grandmother and mother, because of their shared love for baking. His bond with his brother is also commendable, as they often set out to go fishing for seabass. Similarly, he spends quality time with his father while roasting food together or simply foraging for mushrooms. Beyond this, Tom is an adventurer at heart, which has taken him across the globe. In July 2017, he enjoyed the serenity of the blue waters in Turkey, which was followed by his trip through the stunning streets of Hong Kong, China, in May of the same year. Tom visited the stunning Lake Tekapo during his memorable trip to New Zealand in October 2018.
In June 2019, Tom found himself exploring the Joshua Tree National Park in California, followed by his trip to New York in October of the same year. Most recently, in August 2025, he had embraced the beauty of Bavaria, Germany, surrounded by the mountains. He spent his time hiking, sipping coffee, and paragliding during the trip. That same month, he made his way to Samsø, a stunning island in the heart of Denmark. Regardless of the circumstances, Tom always finds joy in simple things like feeding chickens on a farm or simply soaking in the beauty of nature.
