Season 1 of ‘Time Flies’ arrives at a natural and satisfying conclusion where past conflicts have been resolved and plenty of room is left open for future ones. Susana Bonar’s aggressive arrival in Ines and Manca’s lives eventually ends up costing the duo. Although the former is able to save her family from a ruinous fate, she also ends up securing a prison sentence for herself. Still, some of her ill-advised entanglement with Bonar pays off once Manca emerges alive and well on the other side of an expensive cancer treatment. In the end, the duo remains as close as ever and even gets up to new hijinks to secure a well-deserved vacation for themselves.
As such, the season ends with a mostly happy ending, which promises to be a new beginning for the two protagonists. Naturally, this is bound to invite fans to clamor for a possible continuation of the series. Nonetheless, no confirmation has yet arrived that suggests a renewal may be in the works for the Spanish show. Even so, should such a confirmation arrive soon enough, a potential season two might be on the horizon for early 2028.
Time Flies Season 2 Can Dive Deeper into Ines’ Past and Future Misadventures
‘Time Flies’ is based on a crime novel series by Argentinian author Claudia Piñeiro. The first season of the show adapts her books ‘Tuya’ and ‘El Tiempo de Las Moscas’ for the screen. At the time of writing, the ‘Tuya’ literary series is only a duology. Therefore, if the Netflix show returns for a second season without another installment in the book series, the on-screen narrative would have the potential to go down several different avenues. For instance, if the show chooses to continue mining inspiration from Piñeiro’s source material, then a potential season 2 could go back in time to provide a more in-depth depiction of Ines’ loveless marriage.

In doing so, the narrative can offer an extended exploration of the events that led Ines to her homicidal breakdown. Furthermore, fans can get a more intimate glimpse into the relationship between her and her daughter, Lali. Inversely, the series can undertake a different route if it chooses to diverge from its literary inspiration and chart an original path of its own for a future season. In such a case, the narrative can continue following Ines’ life in the aftermath of season 1. This will find the convict back on parole, dealing with the consequences of her repeated less-than-legal actions.
Time Flies Season 2 Might Hold on to the Core Cast of its First Season
For the most part, ‘Time Flies’ remains a character-driven tale, where Ines and her storyline become one of the most crucial pillars of the narrative. As a result, it’s difficult to imagine a potential season 2 that wouldn’t center around the main character. For the same reason, it would be fair to assume the lead actress, Carla Peterson, would return for a continuation of the series. Similarly, her co-lead, Nancy Dupláa, who plays the role of Manca, Ines’ platonic better-half, would also likely reprise her role. Consequently, characters closely associated with this duo and their plotlines also have a high chance of returning to their roles.

These include Óscar Guzmán (cousin Rodie), Diego Velázquez (lawyer Ricardo), and Julia Dorto (Lali). Some of the other characters whose return could also be tentatively expected are Trini (Jimena Anganuzzi), who has a brief romance with Manca, and Guille, Ines’ estranged granddaughter. Depending on how deep a future season might go into the personal lives and relationships of Ines and Manca, these characters are most likely to make the transition from season 1 to season 2. Inversely, Valeria Lois, who plays the central antagonistic role in the first season, has a lower chance of returning considering the conclusive end of her character’s storyline. Alternatively, with a new season, new characters are bound to be introduced into the series.
Time Flies Season 2 Will Likely Focus on Ines and Manca’s Friendship
In their post-prison lives, Ines and Manca’s relationship with each other becomes one of the defining aspects of their lives. The two women manage to find a safe space and a family in each other despite the complications of their past lives. Across season 1, their devotion to their friendship remains the driving force behind many of their ill-advised actions. As such, there’s no denying that the duo will continue to stick by each other’s side in the coming future. As a result, despite the turn that the plotline takes, fans can expect Ines, Manca, and their dynamic to remain at the center of the story.

In season 1, several hints have been made about Manca’s romantic feelings for Ines. Even though these feelings seem to be one-sided, the latter evidently loves her friend dearly. Therefore, a continued exploration of their future hijinks can open up the room for further explanation of Manca’s feelings and how they fit into the duo’s platonic relationship. Additionally, despite the latter’s successful cancer operation, her progress with her remission will likely continue to be a prominent part of her storyline. Similarly, by diving deeper into their relationship, the narrative can continue investigating Ines’ past life as well as her complicated relationship with motherhood and other familial dynamics.
