Tip “T.I.” Harris to Direct ‘Situationships’ Next

The multitalented Tip “T.I.” Harris is helming his sophomore feature directorial! Movidelic has uncovered that rap artist, actor, and director Tip “T.I.” Harris is directing ‘Situationships,’ which began filming in October 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia. Grand Hustle Films, working in conjunction with Burke Entertainment, is backing the project. Further details about the cast and crew remain under wraps.

The film will follow a group of close friends coming together for an annual getaway, whose relaxations are brought to an abrupt halt when secrets come to light. As the friends embark on their much-anticipated annual getaway, the atmosphere is lively, filled with laughter and cheer. However, as the trip progresses, their relationship dynamics take an unexpected turn as hidden feelings come to light. The revelry gives way to contemplation as boundaries are pushed, leading to re-evaluations of their friendships and their own decisions. The movie will likely be a comedy-drama and explore complexities that arise from mixing friendships, relationships, and emotional intimacy.

Tip “T.I.” Harris, widely known for his successful career as a three-time Grammy-winning rapper and entrepreneur, has made a notable transition into the world of film and television. Beyond his music persona, T.I. has shown a keen interest in acting, producing, and directing. His journey in film began with appearances in ‘ATL’ as Rashad, ‘American Gangster’ as Stevie Lucas, and ‘Boss’ as Trey Rogers. Over the years, he has taken on a variety of roles, from action-packed blockbusters like ‘Ant-Man’ to dramatic roles in films such as ‘Takers’ and ‘Sleepless.’ Apart from helming the production of his music videos, T.I. made his directorial debut with ‘Da ‘Partments,’ a comedy inspired by real-life events that revolves around an underprivileged community and their daily struggles. He also starred in a supporting role in the film, and his interest in acting likely means that he may appear as a character in ‘Situationships’ as well.

For T.I., making films goes beyond entertainment and expanding his filmography. Openly sharing his troubled past, the artist has always felt the need to give back to his community and finds that telling stories and making films is an effective way to do so. As a father, he likes to move forward as a role model and often takes on challenging roles and projects that lead him to step outside of his comfort zone. When asked about his favorite role in a film, he said, “Rashad (from ATL), because it was so different from who I was at the time. It was just so different from who the world knew me to be. Now, the world knows me for so many different things that it doesn’t come as a shock and surprise. At that time, it was expected for me to play something based off my music or my persona.”

Atlanta is an ideal filming location for ‘Situationships,’ as it is not only T.I.’s hometown but also a major film hub that provides all the talent and resources needed to bring such projects to life seamlessly. Other films shot in and around the city include ‘Saturday Night,’ ‘The Idea of You,’ and Netflix’s ‘A Family Affair.’
