Nonetheless, despite the friction this causes in his professional life, his confidence in his career choices remains. On the other hand, the same cannot be said for June, who finds herself with a surprising choice to make regarding her future as the head of Trauma OR. Thus, in episode 8, titled ‘All I Have is How I Feel, the narrative finds itself in for some curveballs. SPOILERS AHEAD!

June Announces Her Move to Cleveland

Since the end of her residence at the hospital, June has had a rough couple of months. Between discovering her mentor’s declining health, butting heads with Novack, her partner in the OR, and experiencing fertility issues, the doctor has experienced more than her fair share of setbacks. Therefore, when the opportunity for a fresh start presents itself to her, she’s more than eager to take it. As it turns out, another hospital in Cleveland has proposed a promising job offer to the doctor. Initially, June assumes her new career plans won’t cause a disruption at York Memorial. After all, Novack, who previously helmed the reins of the department, can always step back into the role.

Nonetheless, the same doesn’t appear to be the case. Dr. Devi has long made her dislike for Novack known around the hospital. She doesn’t appreciate his roguish behavior or his negative, devil-may-care attitude. For the same reason, she isn’t on board with the idea of reinstating Novack at a department where she has already fired him. Naturally, this creates certain complications for the young doctor. Furthermore, a conversation with Mags compels her to consider her true motives behind taking the job to ensure she isn’t just making this big life change to run away from the more complicated aspects of her current life. Thus, it seems June’s future at the Toronto hospital remains precarious.

Theo Goes the Extra Mile to Help Out a Patient

Theo has had a long history of being particularly empathetic toward his patients, sometimes to his own detriment. For instance, he was suspended from the hospital earlier for going above a patient’s head and against her wishes to report an incident of sexual assault. Still, he recognizes his mistakes and vows to do better in the future. However, this remains increasingly difficult to do, especially given that most of his patients are young kids who don’t always have clear-cut cases. Owen is the latest in a line of such kids. He has a rare condition that affects his reaction to stimuli. His overprotective guardian, Mac, tends to enforce several restrictions on his life because of this. Previously, this resulted in severe consequences when Owen reacted negatively to Mac’s restrictions on his driving lessons. Still, Theo was able to help the duo through this complication. However, it seems a new facet of this problem has returned.

Now, despite giving the kid permission to learn driving, his guardian rarely supplies him with the lessons to follow. As such, Owen grows antsy, which compels him to skip school and visit the hospital on his own. During this unmonitored visit, he manages to steal his doctor’s car keys to fulfill his desire to drive. Inevitably, this results in a disaster when the young boy ends up getting arrested by cops. As a result, Theo finds himself dropping all his responsibilities to help the kid out, whose condition makes the back of a cop car particularly torturous. Ultimately, the pediatrician is able to help out his patient even though he has to jump through more than one red line for it. Consequently, Mac can’t help but observe how Theo’s deeply caring nature seems better suited for a family practice than a large hospital. Naturally, this thought ends up making a home in the doctor’s head.

Mags Experiences a Fatal Medical Emergency

After her heart transplant, Mags has been progressing well. She’s back at work, and her relationship with Bash is flourishing. While he remains a constant support throughout her recovery, she stays by his side as he contemplates his future and considers the idea of starting his own private practice. Still, there are bad days that accompany the good. Therefore, when she feels a fever setting in at the end of a tiring day, she knows it isn’t something that can be shrugged off. The couple is prepared for the emergency, taking important precautions by noting down Mags’ vitals and other reports while they wait for an ambulance to arrive. Once at the hospital, under the surveillance of the doctors, Mags realizes that her body has picked up an infection that is aggravating to her system.

Mags’ lungs, on their own, aren’t strong enough to do the heavy lifting, causing major issues. Therefore, she agrees to go under intubation to give the meds their best fighting chance. Even though it isn’t an ideal situation, she’s prepared to handle it. Bash, of course, stays by her side through it all. However, on their way from the hospital room, Mags’ heart behaves erratically. Consequently, she’s rushed through an emergency CPR process, where the nurses try to save her body from giving up the fight. Nonetheless, their efforts are for naught. Mags’ arrhythmia ultimately leads to her untimely death. Her death comes suddenly and all at once, leaving Bash with no warning to brace for the soul-crushing impact.
