Trista Klugh was first introduced on Lifetime’s ‘The 6000 Lb Diaries With Dr. Now.’ Although she had a caring mother, her childhood was filled with emotional wounds. Her mother had three daughters from different fathers, and she never knew who her father was. When she was four years old, her mother remarried, and her stepfather struggled to accept her as his own child. This made her turn to food as a source of comfort. Although she later married and became pregnant, her weight complications led to premature labor. When her son passed away, it sent her further into an emotional spiral and deep into food addiction. However, it wasn’t until Trista realized that her life was slipping away that she made the courageous decision to seek professional help.
Trista Klugh Continued Her Journey Despite Being Dropped From the Program
When Trista Klugh appeared on the show, she weighed 634.6 lbs. Determined to reclaim her life, she set an ambitious goal for herself to bring her weight down to 200 lbs. Under Dr. Nowzaradan’s guidance, she was given her first weight loss target: to lose 50 pounds within two months. He asked the reality star to maintain a 1200-calorie diet and to incorporate regular exercise into her routine. Additionally, Trista was also asked to begin working with a nutritionist and a therapist to help her heal from her emotional trauma. During her next appointment, she lost only 14 lbs, bringing her weight down to 620. However, Dr. Nowzaradan had once again set her a goal of losing 40 lbs more in the next two months. At the four-month mark, Trista’s weight had decreased to 600 lbs.
During the follow-up appointment, Trista admitted that she had sometimes strayed away from her diet. Despite this, Dr. Nowzaradan gave her a last chance with an ultimatum to lose 15 lbs in one month or risk being removed from the weight loss program. However, when she returned a month later, her weight had only decreased to 598.7 lbs. She was dropped from the program, but the doctor made the decision to help her continue working with the therapist and nutritionist as long as she kept losing weight. Aside from this, he added that if she could lose 40 lbs more over the next two months, he would consider her for the program. In the final update of her six-month journey, Trista managed to lose another 7 lbs, lowering her weight to 591 lbs.
Trista Klugh is Rebuilding Her Life While Growing Her Social Media Presence
Although Trista Klugh struggled with her weight behind the scenes, her professional life was proof of her ambition and resilience. In 2009, she enrolled at Gwinnett Technical College to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management. She eventually graduated in 2011. However, she stepped into the professional world while studying at the university. In August 2010, the reality star joined as a Recruiter at Staffing Now and worked there for two years until October 2013. After a brief gap, Trista took on her role at CyberCoders as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in March 2016.
Trista’s job there was to prepare and examine financial records and reports, ensuring accuracy. Before leaving the position in September 2019, she joined The HR BlockChain as a Senior Tax Manager in March of the same year. The reality star continued to serve in this position until July 2023. However, mobility issues arose as her weight began increasing, forcing her to put her career on hold. Fortunately, as Trista began losing weight, she slowly started to regain her strength. As of writing, she has not publicly shared any information about her current professional status. It suggests that Trista has decided to keep this aspect of her life private.
However, Trista is quite active on social media and has cultivated a loyal fan base. Currently, she has over 4K followers on Instagram and over 8.3 K followers on Facebook. On both platforms, she offers glimpses into her daily life, sharing updates on her weight loss journey and personal milestones. In her most recent update from June 2025, Trista excitedly wrote, “That waist getting smaller.” This further highlights that she has stayed on the right track and continued to lose weight. Trista’s Unbreakable Bond With Her Family Continues to Guide Her Journey
Trista’s personal life has always remained deeply rooted in her family. Her mother, Althea, has always been a constant source of love and support through her struggles. It was evident from the beginning as she stood by her side, accompanying her to the doctor’s appointments. During one emotional conversation, Trista opened up about the pain that she had carried since childhood because her mother did not take her side during her difficult times, making her feel neglected. Hearing this, Althea immediately apologized to her and added that although she thought she was right, she was gradually learning and growing. The moment of honesty only brought them closer.
Trista often expresses her deep love and gratitude for her mother. She never shies away from celebrating Althea, whether it’s on her birthday or Mother’s Day. In May 2025, the reality star penned down a touching tribute on social media, writing, “Mama, I love you. Thank you for never turning your back on me, even in my darkest moments. I finally got it now. Definitely on the right track.” The mother-daughter bond extends beyond words as they often enjoy their time together by going to restaurants. Tristan also holds her grandmother close to her heart.
On one occasion, Trista wrote, “I definitely could not let this day go by without wishing my Grandma Nettie a heavenly Happy Birthday! Continue to watch over us. Love you!” Her goddaughter and niece, Jazmine, has also become a significant part of her support system. She stood by her side during her workouts and weight loss milestones, cheering her on every step of the way. Yet, despite all the love and progress surrounding her, Trista continues to carry the grief of losing her son, King. However, the reality star has not allowed the pain to define her and has chosen to honor his life and memory with grace.
