All the connections formed on Netflix’s ‘Love Is Blind: Germany’ are shaped by chance and timing. While the contestants make a genuine effort to build meaningful connections, doing so without ever seeing one another feels almost like a leap of faith guided by fate. In season 2, Wandi Wrede and Jubriel believed the experiment was working for them once they began talking in the pods. They discovered several similarities in how they imagined their lives and futures. However, once they stepped out of the pods and into the real world, the dynamic began to shift. What felt natural and effortless in the controlled environment did not translate as smoothly outside, and that disconnect became the central challenge in their relationship.
Wandi and Jubriel Saw a Different Side of Each Other at the Retreat
From their very first conversation in the pods, Wandi Wrede and Jubriel felt an immediate spark. Jubriel was open about how important physical affection was to him, something he valued deeply in a relationship. For Wandi, this was meaningful, as she admitted she had never experienced that kind of closeness before. She also shared that she had never been in a relationship, making this her first official one. While Jubriel was intrigued by her honesty, he did wonder whether her lack of experience might eventually become a challenge for them. Their connection grew as they began sharing more personal stories.
Wandi opened up about her strained relationship with her biological father, from whom she had been estranged since the age of six. When they briefly reconnected years later, she learned six months after their last conversation that he had passed away. Sharing something so painful made Wandi realize how safe and comfortable Jubriel made her feel. In turn, Jubriel revealed that he, too, did not have a close relationship with his parents, which helped them feel that they could truly understand one another on an emotional level. Their in-person meeting during the engagement went smoothly, reinforcing the connection they had built in the pods. However, during the retreat, Wandi began sensing distance from Jubriel.
In an attempt to connect, Wandi invited Jubriel to take a shower with her, but she felt it had no effect on him, as he supposedly didn’t even look at her. Jubriel confided in his friends that he wasn’t feeling the emotions he was expected to, and Wandi’s expectations were making him feel pressured. It became clear that both of them were unhappy in the relationship. Finally, in Crete, Jubriel admitted he felt trapped, describing it as being in a “cage,” and Wandi decided it was best to end things. Later, at a cast gathering, they spoke again. Wandi mentioned that although Jubriel had promised to stay in touch, he hadn’t, while he was frustrated at being portrayed as the one at fault. The conversation was tense and uncomfortable for both.
Wandi and Jubriel Have Gone in Different Directions
Wandi Wrede and Jubriel began their journey on what appeared to be a strong and thoughtful foundation. Their connection was not built on surface-level charm alone but on meaningful conversations about real-life experiences, emotional wounds, and the kind of partnership they hoped to create. That depth initially made it seem as though they were well-equipped to handle whatever challenges came their way. However, the retreat marked a noticeable shift in their dynamic. Jubriel was no longer openly expressive with affection, something Wandi clearly communicated she needed in a relationship. While there was no single, obvious trigger, the transition from the pods to spending extended time together in person changed things for them.
Things only continued to deteriorate for the couple. Wandi’s friends noticed that she no longer seemed happy, and Josy even remarked that it felt like her friend had lost her spark. Ending the engagement appeared to be the healthiest choice for both of them. Wandi explained that, although her former partner had initially promised to stay in touch and try things differently, she never heard from him and felt ghosted. Jubriel, on the other hand, believed things were going well, but when Wandi confronted him, he claimed the fault was entirely his, while the reality was shaped by the pressures of being in the experiment. They have not maintained contact since and seem to have moved on, each pursuing their own lives on their own terms.
