The narrative follows a young woman named Sarah, who finds herself attracted to a reputed middle-aged surgeon named Dr. James Ryan. However, the doctor takes advantage of the situation and provides her with surgical-grade medications to manipulate her and keep her under his control.

As the side effects of drugs and a dangerous relationship with Dr. James take over, Sarah’s life turns upside down. Where Was A Doctor to Die For: The Sarah Harris Story Filmed?

‘A Doctor to Die For: The Sarah Harris Story’ was filmed entirely in British Columbia, particularly in and around Burnaby. As per reports, principal photography for the Lifetime production got underway on April 13, 2026, under the working title ‘A Dentist To Die For’ and wrapped up more than two weeks later on May 1 of the same year.

Burnaby, British Columbia

All the pivotal sequences for ‘A Doctor to Die For: The Sarah Harris Story’ were reportedly lensed across the city of Burnaby, located at the center of the Burrard Peninsula. Known for housing a majority of British Columbia’s film studios, it served as an ideal shooting destination for the Siobhan Devine directorial as it seemingly involved the usage of a sound stage or two to shoot multiple indoor scenes. From the looks of it, the production team also took over real-life properties and establishments on different streets and in neighborhoods to further ground the narrative. Over the years, Burnaby has served as a filming site for many movies and TV shows, including ‘Summer of 84,’ ‘While She Was Out,’ ‘The Invisible,’ ‘3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost,’ ‘The Watchful Eye,’ and ‘The Killing.’

In an interview with TV Insider, Executive Producers Elisabeth Rohm and Kara Feifer were asked about the experience on set. Kara responded, “The experience on set was both heavy and loving. The cast is so talented, and they really held a safe place for each other to fall when appropriate.” She also revealed that the real-life Tina actually talked to the cast members while they were on set. “There was never pushback from the actors, but we felt like the woman playing Tina needed her space during the creative process, and sometimes we have the real people on set, but this time we allowed Janet Kidder to have the space to dive into this deeply moving and emotional role,” she added.
