A Royal Montana Christmas: Filming Locations and Cast Details

In Hallmark’s ‘A Royal Montana Christmas,’ we get acquainted with the Princess Victoria of Zelarnia, who needs relief from her duties and wishes to spend the holidays like she used to with her late father, at the Peaceful Pines Ranch in Montana. After she reaches the nostalgic ranch, she is welcomed by a charming guide named Huntley Blaylock, who is unaware of the fact that Victoria is a princess. Treating her like any other guest, Huntley introduces her and the other guests at the ranch with a rustic experience.

As the dashing guide’s parents are nearing retirement, he must decide if he wants to carry on his family ranch’s legacy or pave his own path. As Huntley and Victoria spend time together exploring the ranch, they find themselves falling head over heels in love with each other. Things get complicated between them when Huntley learns about the fact that Victoria is a princess. With the holiday season nearing its end, the princess must choose between going back to her life full of luxuries and building a future with the ranch guide in Montana. Helmed by Peter Benson, the romantic drama mostly unfolds in and around a family ranch in Montana, which is adorned with snow and Christmas decor, setting the tone for the romance.

Where Was A Royal Montana Christmas Filmed?

The shooting for ‘A Royal Montana Christmas’ was conducted in its entirety in British Columbia, specifically in Squamish and, seemingly, in Vancouver. Principal photography for the holiday movie got underway in late March 2025 and went on for a few weeks before wrapping up in April of the same year. As the premiere date approached, Fiona Gubelmann took to social media and shared her excitement for the film’s release. She stated, “This movie is a true passion project! I executive produced it and spent years bringing it to life!!! Can’t wait to share more about the journey over the next month!!! I had the most amazing time making this with the fabulous @thewarrenchristie.”

Squamish, British Columbia

Many pivotal sequences for ‘A Royal Montana Christmas’ were lensed in and around the district municipality of Squamish, situated at the north end of Howe Sound. An actual working ranch in the community doubled as the Peaceful Pines Ranch, where the romance between the lead characters blossoms. The area around the ranch was also redecorated aptly to represent the setting of Christmas. In the establishing shots, the hills and the region’s popular landmarks might be spotted, such as Mount Garibaldi, the Stawamus Chief, Shannon Falls waterfall, and more.

The production team also set up camp in different streets and neighborhoods of Squamish in order to tape numerous important scenes. For instance, the cast and crew members were spotted recording several portions on Cleveland Avenue, with multiple businesses in the backdrop, including the Common, the Hive gift shop, the Black Diamond Tattoo Company, and more. Apart from ‘A Royal Montana Christmas,’ Squamish has served as a production location for many movies, such as ‘Swan Song,’ ‘Say It Isn’t So,’ ‘Nature of Love,’ ‘SnowComing,’ ‘Falling for You,’ and ‘Must Love Christmas.’

Vancouver, British Columbia

For shooting purposes, the filming unit of ‘A Royal Montana Christmas’ also seemingly traveled to Vancouver, located in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland region. From what we can tell, it supposedly doubled as the hometown of Princess Victoria. Besides the Hallmark film, Vancouver has hosted the production of several other similar kinds of projects, including ‘The Wrong Paris,’ ‘Look Who’s Talking Now,’ ‘The Art of Racing in the Rain,’ ‘The Age of Adaline,’ ‘Virgin River,’ and ‘When Calls the Heart.’
