A Royal Setting: Filming Locations and Cast Details

Helmed by Bradley Walsh, Hallmark’s ‘A Royal Setting’ is a romantic drama movie that chronicles the unexpected love story of a gemologist and a prince from a royal family. Ruby is a world-famous gemologist with aspirations of becoming a successful jewelry designer. Thanks to her impressive portfolio, she finds herself employed by the kingdom of Gullion. Her responsibility is to restore the crown jewels and design a new crown.

Ruby’s life turns upside down when she falls head over heels in love with visionary Prince Luca, with whom she has quite a few things in common. As they bond over their shared sense of purpose and love, the relationship between Luca and his mother becomes complicated. Thus, Ruby and Luca are left with two options — follow the rules of royalty or follow their hearts. The tale of royal romance unfolds primarily in the fictional kingdom of Gullion, which serves as the royal setting where Ruby and Luca make life-altering decisions.

Where Was A Royal Setting Filmed?

Production on ‘A Royal Setting’ was conducted entirely in Ontario, especially in and around North Bay. From what we can tell, principal photography for the romantic film seemingly took place around August 2025, over the course of a couple of weeks. The cast and crew members enjoyed their time on the set, and they also supposedly explored the province when they were not working on the Hallmark production.

North Bay, Ontario

‘Hallmark’s A Royal Setting’ was filmed extensively in the city of North Bay in Ontario. It is located in the northeastern part of the province on Lake Nipissing in Nipissing District. To create the visual aesthetic of the kingdom of Gullion, the production team carefully chose spots with conditions that aided in the creation of the royal ambience and bore elements required to depict the regal life of Prince Luca. As his paths cross with Ruby and sparks fly between them, the movie switches between several cozy backdrops that enhance the romantic aspect of their journey.

For filming, the team ventured to locations that provided a stunning backdrop for the city. North Bay is a quaint city known for its beautiful scenery, vibrant cultural scene, and proximity to film hubs such as Toronto. Among other fun things the cast and crew did over the course of production, the team also indulged in some creamy, luscious ice cream from the popular local spot, Ever Cool Ice Cream. The travelling ice cream trailer is usually located at 100 Ferguson St, North Bay, opposite the North Bay museum. It is evident that everyone involved in the production had a great time bringing the heartwarming Hallmark film to life.
