Adults Filming Locations
While set in Queens, New York, filming for ‘Adults’ takes place in the bustling neighborhoods of Toronto, Ontario. Principal photography for season 1 began on October 21, 2024, under the working title ‘Snowflakes’ and came to a conclusion less than two months later on December 3. Ontario is known for being a central economic hub of activity, which is enhanced further due to its geodiversity. While the province is home to several modern cities with a distinct skyline, it also hosts natural formations like mountains, rivers, and forests, adding to its prestige as a region. Four out of the five Great Lakes reside in Ontario, making it a popular tourist spot throughout the season. The area is also best known for sporting the world-renowned Niagara Falls, a place with unparalleled views.
Toronto, Ontario
‘Adults’ is primarily filmed in Ontario’s capital city, Toronto. The production team set up shop in several real-life buildings and streets of the city, bringing some much-needed authenticity into the mix. As such, key scenes for the opening season were shot in places like the Carlaw Loft and The Pearl Events space. The latter is a popular event venue at 184 Pearl Street and is noted for its New York-like aesthetic, seamlessly blending into the show’s primary setting. Toronto’s stellar reputation as a filmmaking destination makes it ideally suited to stand in for any major city worldwide, especially the Big Apple. Even outside its distinctly pristine outdoor environment, the region is flush with top-of-the-line studio spaces where any type of interior can be realized.
One of the most memorable aspects of the series is the suburban house where the five main characters live together as they navigate their young adult era. It adds familiarity and character to the entire piece, even though it remains a stagnant background to the other dramatic elements of the story. As such, Toronto plays a massive role in bringing to life the classic New York vibes that define the show’s central angle. It only cements the region’s legacy as a sought-after tourist and filmmaking haven, hosting landmark spots such as the CN Tower, Royal Ontario Museum, Harbourfront Centre, Hockey Hall of Fame, and Casa Loma. Other projects that have been filmed in the city include ‘Ginny & Georgia,’ ‘Euphoria,’ ‘Workin’ Moms,’ and ‘Fear Street: Prom Queen.’
