Where is Amazon Prime’s 56 Days Filmed?

In Amazon Prime’s ’56 Days,’ Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia star as Ciara Wyse and Oliver Kennedy, respectively. When the two individuals cross paths in a supermarket queue, they feel intense sparks between them. Thus, they begin a steamy and profound romantic relationship. A few weeks later, the couple takes the next big step in their relationship as Ciara moves in with Oliver at his house. However, 56 days after the two met for the first time at the supermarket, the authorities find the decomposed remains of an unidentified person.

As the detectives dig deep into Oliver and Ciara’s short-lived yet intense relationship, a series of dark secrets emerges, and Oliver becomes a suspect. Adapted from Catherine Ryan Howard’s eponymous novel, the whodunnit crime thriller drama series is developed by Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher. The suspenseful tale of the couple unfolds primarily in Boston, adding a sense of tension and uncertainty to the romantic yet mysterious narrative.

56 Days Filming Locations

’56 Days’ was reportedly filmed entirely in Quebec, particularly in and around Montreal. According to reports, principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the suspenseful series got underway in April 2024 under the working title ‘Obsession’ and went on for several months before wrapping up by the end of the same year. Thanks to Quebec’s diverse landscape, it served as an apt stand-in for Boston, where the show is set.

Montreal, Quebec

While the source material is set during the COVID-19 lockdown in Dublin, the events of the Amazon Prime adaptation unfold against the backdrop of Boston. However, that is not where it is filmed. The production team of ’56 Days’ settled on the city of Montreal in Quebec to paint the visual canvas of whirlwind adventures that Oliver Kennedy and Ciara Wyse embark on after meeting at a supermarket. For the purpose of filming, they visited several locales in the city and made use of its diverse landscape, particularly the historic neighborhoods and metropolitan streets. The cultural hub is known for its favorable climate, film-friendly policies, tax incentives, established studios, skilled technicians, and a versatile architectural heritage.

From 19th-century structures to narrow lanes and brick-row houses, and urban areas that can easily be adapted to recreate the aesthetic of another location, the blend of European and North American charm made Montreal an ideal backdrop to double up as Boston. Aside from ’56 Days,’ it has hosted the production of a wide range of movies and television shows over the years. ‘Heated Rivalry,’ ‘The Voyeurs,’ ‘Splitsville,’ ‘Murder Mystery,’ ‘The Human Stain,’ ‘Shimmer Lake,’ ‘A Different Loyalty,’ and ‘Wicker Park’ are some of the titles that bring the cityscape of Montreal to the screen.
