Adapted from the Dutch franchise of the same name, CBS’ ‘Big Brother’ is a reality competition series that pits a group of people, coming from different walks of life, together in a house where they are surveilled and recorded 24 hours a day with the help of over 100 high-definition cameras and microphones installed in different corners of the property. The houseguests vote someone out of the house every week until there is a last one standing, who receives the grand cash prize of $750,000.
Hosted by Julie Chen Moonves, the 27th season followed a similar format, but with an interesting twist. In ‘Big Brother 27,’ the house was themed as the Hotel Mystère, which involved a secret accomplice, a masked visitor, and a mystery houseguest. Staying true to the theme, the Big Brother house involved various unique spaces where the mysteries were revealed and the drama unraveled.
Big Brother 27 Filming Locations
Following the pattern of previous seasons, ‘Big Brother 27’ was filmed in its entirety in California, particularly in Los Angeles. According to reports, principal photography for the 27th season commenced on July 8, 2025, and is expected to wrap up after about three months, in October of the same year.
Radford Studio Center, Los Angeles, California
For taping ‘Big Brother 27,’ the production team set up camp in the city of Los Angeles, situated in Southern California. Since the drama unfolds inside a house, they made the most of the facilities of the Radford Studio Center (alternatively known as CBS Studio Center) at 4024 Radford Avenue in the LA neighborhood of Studio City, specifically sound stage 18. The 55-acre film studio is home to 22 different sound stages with about 210,000 square feet of office space and 172,737 square feet of support space. It also consists of three backlot sets, including Residential Street, Central Park, and New York Street. Furthermore, there are other amenities inside the facility, such as an on-lot commissary, gym, beauty salon, and car wash.
Taking over the stage 18 of the studio, the production designer Scott Storey transformed the space to fit the theme of “A Summer of Mystery” and designed the season’s Hotel Mystère. The house of ‘Big Brother 27’ consists of various interesting features and spaces, including a reception area, an attic bedroom filled with oddities, a secretive wine cellar, living room with chess guardians, a rooftop garden kitchen, boxing ring gym, a Victorian conservatory lounge and bar, and a sleeper car bunk room. All these spaces add a layer of mystery and intrigue to the mix as the houseguests deal with loads of drama and unexpected twists. Besides ‘Big Brother,’ the Radford Studio Center has hosted the production of several other reality shows, including ‘The $100,000 Pyramid,’ ‘America’s Got Talent,’ ‘Press Your Luck,’ ‘Don’t Forget the Lyrics!,’ ‘Win, Lose or Draw,’ and more.
