Directed by Robert Ely, Great American Family’s ‘Blessings in Disguise’ is a romantic drama movie that centers on a determined, skillful fashion designer named Katie, based in New York. When she is given a deadline of only three weeks to come up with a collection that could take her brand to the next level, Katie returns to her hometown in search of inspiration and to stay closer to her roots. While working on her project, she decides that she will unveil her work at Charlotte’s Thread, her late grandmother’s seamstress shop.
Katie soon realizes the secret behind her beloved grandmother’s success was the hand-stitched designs hidden inside each garment. While adding her own personality to the storefront, she also reunites with her first love, Luke, who is now a gifted furniture designer and woodworker. As old sparks between them are reignited, she realizes that true inspiration can’t be found in deadlines. The shooting for ‘Blessings in Disguise’ was conducted in its entirety in New York State, specifically in Buffalo. According to reports, principal photography for the Great American Family production got underway in January 2026 and wrapped up in three weeks in the last week of the same month. Upon conclusion of the filming process, Shae Robins took to social media and shared a few words of gratitude, stating, “That’s a wrap on my latest film with @greatamericanfamily, coming this Easter! So thankful for the cast, crew, and my time in Buffalo, NY. Grateful to do what I love and even more grateful to be home with my little family.”

The romantic tale is brought to life by the chemistry-filled performances from Shae Robins and Casey Elliott. Apart from acting, Shae is also known for her musical talents. As for Casey, he has served as a writer and director in a 2017 short film titled ‘Don’t Let Go.’ He is also credited as a writer and director on the music video for “Home” by Gentri.

Shae Robins dons the garb of Katie, the successful fashion designer who returns to her hometown to finish her project, in the Great American Family production. You might recognize her from her portrayals of Ashton in ‘Masquerade Mix-Up,’ Charlotte Hudson in ‘Identical Love,’ and Nicole Burton in ‘Passport to Love.’ She also features in ‘Love in Aruba,’ ‘Hot Chocolate Holiday,’ ‘Love Switch,’ ‘A Christmas Prayer,’ and ‘Love in Tahiti.’
Casey Elliott as Luke
In ‘Blessings in Disguise,’ Casey Elliott essays the role of Luke, Katie’s romantic interest and a skillful furniture designer. Known for his roles as Theo Hall in ‘Destined at Christmas’ and Destined 2: Christmas Once More,’ Adam in ‘An Hour Behind,’ and Peter in ‘Lamb of God: The Concert Film,’ he also has other movies under his credit, such as ‘Christmas Roses,’ ‘Sleeping Beauty Next Door,’ ‘Dishing Up Love,’ and ‘My One True Love.’
The younger version of Katie is played by Nell Bichler, while Adrienne Cote portrays Helen Hastings.
